I have this silicone (ge premium waterproof silicone II). Is it safe to seal the bottom of his screen cage with this? I was reading the bioseal ones were bad. This just says 5 yr mold fre product, but I don't see anything about bioseal. It says it takes 24 hours to cure. I got the white stuff by accident so I have to go back to home depot anyway. Is there a better type or brand?

If your going back I would pick up aquarium sealant. It is usually around the glue section.

24-36 hours depending on temperature and humidity to cure so there is no more odor.

Thanks carl. I looked for aquarium sealant and I couldn't find it. Why would aquarium sealant be in the glue section as opposed to the sealant section? Of course the people are home depot are useless lol

If you can't find it at Home Depot, most pet stores carry it in the aquarium accessories section.

Does the GE II say safe for aquariums? GE does make one that can be used for aquariums I just can't remember which.

I know a lot of the frog viv guys use a GE caulk, I think it is GE II, but I also remember reading a post on dendroboard saying something about the type labeled safe for aquarium use was getting hard to find. And not to use the type with mold inhibitors, but that could be specific to frogs. I just buy the aquarium stuff, so I don't have to worry about it.

No it didn't say sage for aquariums so I didn't want to use it. I DID find one in a green tube, albeit a small one, called DAP and it says sage for fish and aquariums. Only thing is it takes 48 hours to cure. That's ok though better safe than sorry.

We will see how it works. :) ty for the help. It WAS in the adhesive section too...one aisle over...I was in the wrong aisle this whole time until you told me lol

Could not find any ge II that was aquarium safe. :/ I made sure to avoid mold things and I end ahead and got the aquarium stuff.

If you can't find "aquarium safe" silicone, try looking for "food safe".

Yes this DAP brand is aquarium AND food safe so it's awesome :) it's pricey though and takes 48 hours to cure. It's also dishwasher safe...so that means it can be used on coffee mugs and the like :) I'll try to get a picture of it.
