Well, we had to go pick up some more crickets today and we went to our local pet store. As I was getting ready to pay I heard my husband say "OMG you this!" So I walked over and he pointed at alittle crested gecko and said "I want him!!!"

He knows that we cant buy anymore pets till we move and get settled in but the whole way home he was talking about him. So I think its safe to say that this house is going to be a reptile house!

On a sad note though, they had a baby veiled female in a screen cage and she looked terrible! She was so skinny it made me want to cry. They had another female in another cage next to this baby and she had a huge cut on her face :(

You have the perfect reason for your hubby not to buy an animal from them. They don't properly care for their animals, so don't support them by buying a pet there. Tell him to buy a healthy one from a breeder. Look in reptiles magazine. They have a breeder section.

Your hubby and mines have to be related!

I hear the saaaaame thing when we got to shows, petstores even when he stumbles across a cool reptile on youtube! We're also in the process of moving since our place is too small. But with 2 chameleoms a tree frog, a pacman frog, a tegu, a betta fish, 2 mice, 2 kids him and I.... I think waiting for a bigger place is a better idea then buying another animal and have no where to put it. :p

Several people on here have baby cresties that they would love to find a good home for ;)

I do!! I've got five hatchlings and seven more eggs, as well as probably two more clutches in the next couple weeks.

Ya gotta be careful though...you can't just get one cause they are addictive!

koko...please....your husband wanted to spontaneously purchase an animal....you absolutely should have supported it because you just KNOW that there will a time soon when you will fall in love with a chameleon in a store and it would be SOOO much better to be able to say "like when you bought that cresty".

You are obviously young and new to the marriage game. Learn, grasshopper....

When the man wants a spontaneous purchase, you need to view it as a "promise" of a future spontaneous purchase on your part. I'm constantly pushing my husband to indulge his acquisitive thoughts because I know that means I get to spend an equal amount on things I am obsessed with.

I like this way of thinking!

This is what I did when I wanted a pygmy hedgehog- first I said "please, please, please!" lol Then my boyfriend eventually said we could get one in September, so I said "ok, let's go ask the breeder to reserve one from the next litter" So we went to the pet shop, I pointed out the one I wanted, & my boyfriend says, "I want him! Let's buy him now!" Worked like a charm lol

LOL I would have let him have it if we had the money, $118 with enclosure isnt bad I guess. But I dont know anything about geckos. And money is extremely tight right now =(

Oh man, I feel ya on the $$ situation! We were blessed with our new little guy serendipidously! Save the $! I guess, I'd want to get the poor guy from there just to save it from being in those not so great conditions you described :( Best wishes!! ~Cyndi
