Seymore s flood

I got the reptarium prepared and my supplies together I figured out a strategy that nobody should get bit. What I didn't plan for is my roommate bar b Qing next to the reptarium I can't take Seymore out there he'll think he's gonna be dinner. By midnight his house and flood will be under control and all will be spotless. I want to kick that dripper into traffic. By midnight I just might. LOL

I lost patience with drippers many years ago. Switched to lots of droplet-holding foliage, misting and supplemental fogging instead.

So handling Seymore went better than expected and he got to see his new reptarium and his trees it's 265 gallon looks like Gilligan's island in there. I've been looking at Tegu s on line. So Seymore is less scary now. Lol

I have to admit I used a glove to get him out .It wasn't a leather falcon glove like my right hand wanted just a fabric flowery garden glove and I was able to hold him more confidently on the way to the reptarium. I felt guilty for using the glove at first but after doing it I'm ok with it .He's a strong little guy. No glove on the way back to his house and no hissing

Pfft use what protective gear makes you feel most comfortable, for as long as you need- even if that is forever! You will handle him more confidently and smoothly, which will make him feel safer and less likely to bite or bolt. Don't let anyone guilt or shame you for trying to keep yourself and your animals safe. I'd be likely to read the riot act to anyone who suggested otherwise.

I have handled plenty of teeny tiny mice and similarly innocuous animals with gloves if I felt the situation called for it. Why take a bite if you don't have to? I've never understood the herp culture of "taking the bite with pride". In almost every other critter field if your animal handler is covered in bites, you'd do best to find another handler!

uploadfromtaptalk1440898360239.jpg This is Seymore he's about 9 mos old now. He doesn't really have 2 heads he hissed at me that day so I gave him 2 heads. He's named Seymore cuz he's a chameleon and you want to see more of him and after a guy on Hoarders who had the most roaches I've ever seen.

In that last pic you posted(the one that is foggy) your chameleon has Metabolic Bone Disease. His legs are all curvy looking. Can you post some more pics? Have you been using a proper UVB light and dusting his feeders with calcium???? His front leg does not look good.

I was just looking at the photo just now and was thinking that he looked like he had MBD also. His front leg definitely has a curve to it. I agree that it would be good to see more pics just in case.

5 or 6 mos ago we lost our female to it . We were told they could live together and that was not true so we had to separate them and juggle lights and they both got it. We lost the female we took her to the emergency vet and had her put down . Seymore is still growing but he will always be curved He does get everything now . I wish we knew then what we know now. Thank you all for your concern . I'll post a pic tomorrow of him now and I'll look up exactly how long ago it was . He's growing really well.

It was this last memorial day weekend we were at the er vet at midnight before memorial day. So it's been 3 mos ago. I was lucky to find a chameleon breeder at my cricket co. So he coached me on calcium and I took Seymore out into the sun everyday and he's recovering.
