so when i bought my plant had 5 stalks, i tried trimming one to try and get some new lower growth and if it didnt work out not a big deal. but nowwww in the past 2 days one o the 4 remaining stalks has dropped maybe 3 leaves and nearly the whole stalk is black, wth went wrong? only change is got put in the hall way for a day or two and brought it bac where it use to be

Could be too much water or not enough light. Do you have a grow bulb besides your uvb and basking? If not, then that would help for sure.

Many of us could purchase a Parson's with the amount of money we have spent on plants....

If you have a 6500k plant light already, it is too much water.

Mine is actually doing fine with only a uvb strip from reptisun and a halogen bulb. It's a baby too, at the bottom of the tank, and it gets mist and apparently enough light to grow.

Maybe I'm lucky.

its not in a tank right now, still finishing up the big boy cage. i had it under a grow light at night for close to a month and it thrived. removed it and still did very well. one weekend was in a different area not much light still seemed fine. come home today and realized almost whole of one stalk is black. is there a way to save it? could it be the whole plant? should i remove the stalk? it is def not over watering ive really slowed my watering

im slowly realizing the amount of money being spent on plants. hoping once everything is set up and finalized wont be so much of an issue

The stalk turning black sounds like root rot. This is caused by excessive water not allowing the roots to breath. At this point your only chance of saving it is most likely going to be to take it out of the pot, remove any black stalks and roots, and then repot it in fresh soil that is not as wet. Unfortunately even then it may be irreversible.

Best way to prevent root rot is to water only when the soil is dry and use a lighter and more airy soil mix.

i just did that last month and havent watered in probably 10 days dont see how it can be excessive water. when i repotted put some sand in the top and bottom of the pot could that be my problem?
