is this scale rot????

I am wondering if this is scale rot or something else, could it be damage from a rat?
I try to stay away from live food but there are not too many choices here in Newfoundland.

Haha it was a joke.

UVB lights are NOT needed for a snake.

There is no evidence showing it makes any difference for most species of snakes. It makes the cages look a bit better lit, but its not neccesary for their health.

David,

I would say maybe a rat got a hold of him/her. By the second picture you have it looks like a bite mark. I would put some antibiotics on it. Unless you want to show it to someone at a pet store, but I'm pretty sure.

thanks,
Can anyone confirm that he is a Florida pine snake? I am almost sure that he is but I also have been told he is a northern pine, black pine and some different types of bull snake. I have never seen another snake exactly like him before.

I'll order them from 1st to last pic.

Florida Pine
Normal Bullsnake
Black Pine

I would say a mix between some but here are pics of these. Hope this helps.

are you saying that my snake could be a hybrid or sub species of a common species??
I really did not think about that, can you give me some examples of other snake species like this??

Like how there are different types of Rattlesnakes. It is definitly a pine snake, the type it is is hard because the normal bands that are in it are faded. I think maybe it is a Florida Pine but in a different phase.
