Anyone know what kind of saline solution I can use for an eye with something irritating it?

Here's an example of what you can use to flush out a chameleon's eye:

If the bottle's tip creates a tight stream of liquid then you can carefully but deliberately squirt the stream directly at the chameleon's eyelid slit and literally fill-up the eye lid with the saline solution. With cooperation, some chameleons will let you gently rub the outside of the eyelid to break-up the gunk inside to aid with the flushing process. Some will even press their eye/head against your finger in order to rub their eye on their own
. Dr. Greek showed me this saline squirting technique and I've used it several times helping other keeper's chameleons as well as my own and had good success. It seems to be very effective at breaking-up gunk in an infected eye before administering antibiotic drops.
Note that it is thimerosal and chlorhexidine free.

Thank you very much Dave. Can not believe you remembered my first name! I have not posted here forever.
His eye is not so bad, but I watched him wake this morning and the first thing he did with that eye was start blinking it trying to push it out. While feeding him a while ago I noticed that eye was just a little puffed, so maybe some heavy mistings will help but if not I am going with the solution.

we have a veiled that years ago had problems with a dry skin crusting over his eye. my wife took him in the shower. ( she wore a bikini to not feel weird) accrding to her, neither enjoyed it, but the eye problem cleared up.

Yeah my vet who used to breed chams told me about the shower trick. I just put mine on a ficus plant in the shower though. Def no bikinis for me! I'd scare the poor guy to death.

I'd like to bring this back up to the top of the lists for people with eye problems and want to flush their chams eyes out, people are always asking what to use and people just say "use saline solution" but it's hard to find how to use it on our little guys. This explains it pretty well and I will be doing it tonight!
