Sad night-10 year old Bulldog passed...

It is now 4:42 in the morning, and about 1/2 hour ago my teenage son woke me up to tell me he thought Ross was dead. He is. He has been in severe decline for several months. I had taken him to the Vet a few months back, when he went blind, and the Vet said if he is eating and can go out to the bathroom he is OK. He ate heartily both breakfast and dinner yesterday, and he slowly walked out to pee about 10:00 last night. His back legs had been giving out, and as we walked in the house I told him I knew he was going to break my heart, and he did. I just didn't know how soon it would be. That combined with the fact that he died here at home where I always thought I would have to have him put to sleep. I guess it is better this way. His companion dog of nearly all 10 of those years had woken me up after midnight with some light barks and she never does that-I am sure she knew it was coming. I am only glad that his suffering is over. Rest In Peace Dear Ross-you were a faithful friend. I apologize for saddening anyone, but I knew you guys would understand.

Juli, sorry to hear the sad news. These dogs will break your heart. I have had several bulldogs over the years.Other dogs just don't look like dogs anymore.
I have one that just celebrated his 10th birthday and is declining as well.
10 is a good long life for these guys and you obviously took very good care him.Remember all the funny, good memories you had with him. My heart goes out to you.

I am so sorry to hear about your baby. I had to put my baby of 12 years to sleep a year ago Jan. He had cancer and had stopped eating or even getting up without being proded. I know how hard it is to loose these babies that mean so much to you but we just have to believe they are in doggie heaven running and having fun. My thoughts are with you and his partner.

They do become such great friends over the years. 10 years is a long life... and I am sure he enjoyed every year he spent with your family. Best wishes.
