Rudis Chameleon

Hello Everyone! I'm new around these parts (and to Chameleons - but not lizards) and am hoping someone can help.. I'm preparing to get my daughter a Rudis Chameleon and I found one available from a company called Reptile Pets Direct but have heard very mixed reviews about them. Does anyone know much about them?

Thanks!
Heather

Hi- Welcome to the forum - We aren't really set up to give reviews of where/where not to get your chameleon - they have rules about it -
I would though, make sure that if this is your first chameleon your looking at a captive born .. wild caught chameleons need a lot more care and rudis or actually sternfeldi which is what is sold as rudis in the US are often wild caught.
Wild caught tend to have many more problems ...

As kplatvoet said, these forums are not set up for the inquiries of businesses but there is a site that is, and here is the link: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13

There are many here who have bought from them, and you can message them or just look on that forum.

As per your actual question, if the animal is of decent quality, that makes it easier, for the most part. Again as kplatvoet said, wild caught have some problems. I have personally found T. sternfeldi to be hit or miss. I would say once they're acclimated, they're quite easy. I would contact CarlC here on the forums, he has worked with them and is really knowledgeable.

I apologize and thank you!

I'm sorry for asking a question that is taboo, but thank you for providing me with a link I can do a bit more research on the matter. Either way, point is moot as they never got back to me.

Thank you for some great suggestions on what to search for, I will most definitely search for a Captive bred and will buy nothing but. I have done a ton of research on chameleons and where I'm nervous about getting one, I'm very excited!

Thanks again!
