RI concern

My little male jackson Rex has been on and off gaping his mouth throughout the day for the last week. I chopped it up to temp being to high, but everytime I checked the temp in the cage with my temp gun its a perfect 84 degrees at the very tip of his basking spot and about 81 on the lower portion where he likes to bask. (Worried my temp gun was off I used another therm with a probe that I have and got same reads)
The cooler area reads about 75-72 and 75% of my enclosure remains about in that 70 range and 25% is dedicated for basking. (I use same set up as jdogs vid, including fogger and even supp schedule) But now my little guy has begun to open mouth gape. I have been checking him in his viv a few times a day with the temp gun and his body temp is usually at 80-83 or gets down to 74 when he isen't basking. I've listened for popping, clicking, gurgling or weezey nosies and I hear none coming from him. When should I be concerned enough to take him to the vet? And is there any other signs i should be looking for? Anything I'm doing wrong?
I clean is cage every 3-4 days and I wipe down the bottom of the cage of any messes before bed everynight. I only use the fogger for 1/2 of the day, broken into two parts, morning for 3 hours, then 3 hours off and before bed 3 hours and then all night off.

Sorry i realize i posted this in general discussion

I was told that jax like cooler temps, like down around 80 as the highest point.

maybe try that?

I would stop using the fogger at least for a while. Also if there's any chance at all of his temps being too high try raising the basking light up off the cage and see if he likes it better. Mid 80's is too hot IMO. Jackson don't NEED a fogger. If you live in an area that has very low humidity then I would use one.

Ok So taking the fogger out today, and i'm lowering the temps again down to 80. Hopefully that will stop this gaping.
Thank you

OK one more question to anyone who may have an answer. My temp reading that i'm getting off my uvb light alone in the enclosure is at 82 should i just leave only the uvb light on for basking as well? Does anyone else just use a uvb light and no basking bulb?
My room is also exceptionally hot being that I live in a garage and in florida with the access to the attic right in my room.

Go.with way camimom said on ur other thread. low wattage on a small portion just incase he needs a warm up

How old is the jackson? Where is he when he is gaping? Is he towards the warmer side of the enclosure when he is doing this?
Is there excessive mucous in his mouth?

He is only about 3 months old. He gapes when he is basking or when he is just sitting under his uvb light. All this is toward the warmer side.
No excessive mucous that i can see and his mouth has no signs of mouth rot.

I would be using a temp sensor with a probe on it. Put the probe at the height of where the top of his back would be when on his basking branch to measure temps.

Without seeing a pic, I am guessing he was a little too warm. Younger Jacksons can not take as much heat as adult Jacksons can.
