today i walked over to his enclosure to check him out, as i do every day. and i saw a very interesting behavior. he was "chompping" on the biovine. it was wierd i have heard similar things like chewing on substrate or rocks. Ive heard this may be caused by lack in supplements. but without going into super detail, my supplementation is perfect. i use exactly the right supplements and on schedual as suggested by the pros here and the breeders at krammerflage. My question is can the little peices of the biovine become harmful and is there another reason why he would be doing such a thing (other than supplements) he is in great shape and looks great.

hes a cb ambilobe male. you know whats funny. this was the first morning since ive had him that he did not have any crickets in the cage in the morning. considering sunday everyplace closes early i was not able to get out in time. i will usually observe him eat about three crickets before i leave for work. I ran out as soon as i saw it bought food and he ate like 4 or 5..........ya think he could have just been hungry?? and do you think that stuff will bind him up?

Panthers especially the juvi seem very curious and it's been posted here many times about them attacking limbs, eating dirt, chomping on whatever. I don't think it is anything to be alarmed about and I would watch his poop and make sure it is still normal. Granted if he continues to "chew" on the vine, it's best to take it out and replace it will real tree branches or something else.

great tip!! ill take a look. i try to spend enough time each day examine him and the enclosure. i usually can find his daily crap. i try to remove asap. Its has looked really good..........lol that just doesnt sound right
thanks i will keep a very close eye ;)

When Drac is thirsty and wants me to mist his cage, he bites on one of the fake leaves until I bring the mister over and spray his cage. Then he stops chewing the leaf and drinks water instead lol. I'm not sure if he's chewing on the leaf on purpose to get my attention or if he's just trying to drink and is frustrated that the leaves are dry. He does this even when the dripper is going.
