Question about windows

is it bad for my chameleon to be near an open window? i think i read somewhere that it might be. just wanted to clarify. what if the window was across the room?

Well...Is it like 30 degrees and drafty? That would certainly be bad! :) As long as the temp is within range and there is still areas of shade for him, being in front of an open window would do nothing harmful. In fact it may add UVB.

Now if your on the second floor and your cham were to jump...
 
Aside from free ranging which has its obvious downfall where your cham could escape, If there are pollutants that may be coming though the window like weed/insect killer, smoke or a lot of dust it would be cause for concern. I assume it does not drastically change the temps in the room/cage and you don't have to worry about wild birds or cats coming in and attacking.
