alrite, im planning on owning pygmys in a few weeks. i've got all the stuff in the cage. its a 12x12x18 so im going to put a male and female in it and hopefully get some babies :D! right now its young but it should grow. i just planted it today. the bottem layer is water cubes, the next is organic fertalzer, and than soil, and than leaves. i put some pothos that should grow up and been nice and viney + those green things in the back. hopefully everything gets nice and big before i order pygmys ^^ lucky i found someone who has them!
what do ya'll think?

edit- also i actually dont know anything about pygmys. what temps and humidity do i need? what do i feed them?

Water cubes? I never heard of using them! D: LOL. I use hydro-balls. I was dumb enough to buy a $10 bag from PetsMart instead of buying some from Lowes or Home Depot.

i thought thats what they were. suck up water right? the little critals that you can use for crikets aswell?

No...the bottom layer is expanded clay pellets that absorb excess water and let it dissipate easier since there is air between them so there isn't standing water. The goal is to keep the substrate dry, so the pellets (hydroton or hydroballs) helps keep the water out of the substrate. I think water crystals may have the opposite effect. They'll suck up water, but how will they get rid of it?

i've used them and after a while they dry up, than they suck back up and dry out again. if i dont mist too much than i think it may work. i've got a while before i get them and i have to continue to mist to keep the plants alive. hopefully it will work. i'll redo it if it doesnt.

It may work, I don't know if anyone has tried it to say that it couldn't work! Good thing you have a trial period to get a feel for it.

I don't breed crickets personally. Adult crickets chirping drives me absolutely crazy! And although I've hatched pinheads I can't ever keep them alive. I buy 1 week old crickets online so they last a few weeks before getting too big for my pygs.

mabey i;ll discover something new :D i kinda think it will work with what iv seen. i might need to make a hole from each cormer to allow a tid bit more ventalation but im useing a ventalated thingi already. im super excited!

The water crystals are full of water, it won't soak anything up to my knowledge. I doubt it will help within the terrarium. Hydroballs are clay balls that absorb the water.

these absord water aswell. their compleatly dry and i have like 2inches of them. i tested it a minute ago and misted alot and it didnt even reach that layer. i really think its going to work well. im excited to mabey have found a new possible layer. i know for a fact that after they fill they can also easily dry back out. and becuz i have sooo many theres no way it'll ever get too wet. i'll keep you guys posted on it through my trial tho ^^! i'll change it if i run into problems of corce. these one are specially made for plants 2!
