well, the 3 legged pup is doing great - his got a name, Quinn :D
sooo, then I get another call - here is ANOTHER puppy- this one 3 oz - I was suppose to get them yesterday- but we just could not hook up - I feel so bad- because all the other puppies died but this one- that is what I hate is when ppl ( the original owner ) wait so long to send the babies- I think if she would have taken them to the vet as soon as she had trouble, maybe ??? more could have been saved - she did try to feed them, but when something goes in - SOMETHING MUST COME OUT ! this puppy was not fed the right stuff- so he is so constipated, his belly is HUGE - I am worried - i got some poo- but it was so hard, and blood too - he is only 3 days old- his poor mommy is in really bad shape- she is in complete kidney shut down - it does not look good for her - I hope she can pull threw -

The story is depressing but the face is soooo cute!
I've been stuck researching babies with anencephaly all day and it makes you really depressed :(

I hope these little guys and their mommy pull through!!!

one of my foster puppies last yr had that - and also no hard or soft pallet
but he is fine now- he acts alittle "odd" - lol but he is a sweet dog

I will feel better when the puppy has been with me 24/48 hrs- he is so full of poo- his belly is so hard and big- I think he is also dehydrated :( I just started him on a formula I make my self - I do not like the store stuff - mine is a goat milk base- they do much better on this than the store stuff- she was giving him cow milk, then tried to feed him egg yoke - just egg yoke - gurrrr but at least she did turn him over to get help - so I will do my best - I think my sister is going to take the little 3 legged one Quinn so I am happy about that - this one the lady wants back if he lives

He will live, my mind is made up! But you may have to tell her you "lost" him and send him to me. He deserves better than what she provided. He is just to sweet, soft, and cuddly looking not to have lots of love.

Idk bout animals with anencephaly, but I know that human babies (typically) are stillborn/aborted or only live a few hours. There was a baby who "lived" 2.5 years bc her mother. Refused to let her go. After reading and learning about anencephaly...it really changed a couple of my views...like the babies with it are permanently unconscious, have no personality, and feel no pain (which is good about the pain) and also have other defects (much like your pup). But I feel like that's not a life.. but a lot of times the mamas carry to term so that the baby can be a donor. Which is sweet but still so sad.

Did the pup have just a midbrain?? I believe you, I'm just saying that's a miracle pup then.

And the puppies you have now..the owner doesn't deserve them if she won't care for them when they are sick :(

the mom had a retained puppy- but no one knew until it was to late and her kidneys shut down - when the puppy was sent to me , the lady said to tell me thanks- I was so mad at the whole litter and now the mom passing away- I told the vet to tell her I was not doing it for HER- I am doing this for the pup

Apache had part of his brain exposed when he was born, it healed over, and the skull closed - but he will always have a odd looking bump - and a wild colic in his hair - lol I am sure all of his brain is there - or not? LOL he has weird things he does, and he seems to not remember things- like if you move a chair, he will bark at it as if it is new- and sometimes he just gets a blank stair - like he zones out- I know he is not " normal" but he gets along - I also think he may have a slight sight issue- his pallets, we ( well, the vet-) have done 2 surgeries so far, he needs on more - but he is such a good little soul - I just love him :)

OMG, that pic of your hands holding that little baby is telling of her size. Precious!!! What a great thing you do!

Sorry to hear about the mom, what a sad story. I hate she suffered like that.

Thank you Cheryl, you are a very special lady, to take in these hurt and sick little puppies and loving them and still not knowing if they will make it or not, that just takes a special type of person and the animal kingdom is fortunate to have people like you that can give them love, tenderness and a chance to survive....that pup is beautiful and it is so sad to hear of the mother passing, it breaks my heart, but this pup will have the best chance to make it because of you....my thoughts and prayers to you and all the little angels you help.

thanks guys - this is one of the most bitter-sweet things ever- the puppies all belonged to a breeder- I do not know this person- the 3 legged pup- she does not want, or want back- the smaller one- the one in the pics- she wants back - I do not charge for the care I give to any baby ever - and most are unwanted from the start - but this little guy- he is from a show line- he is a "big money" pup- I do not like breeders - but I kinda have a rep/ of pulling these little guys back from the brink - the whole litter is dead now- except him- he was the only one who made it to me- I would NEVER turn away a baby in need- no matter who sends him- but UGH- all this work , he will go back to her, and then be sold :( I keep tabs on as many as I can - I like to know how they are doing - but I know I will never see him again once he goes back - and that is sad to me - and no matter if he is a shelter mutt- or a high dollar show dog- they all get the best I can give
