Planting my Pothos plant

I haven't had much luck in finding a SAFE soil to replant my Pothos plant for my cham. Would it be alright to use some soil from my back yard?

Thank you!:)

Yes.
You could mix a bit of peat with it and you'd be totally fine.
I also recommend sifting it to remove any large pieces.

I would not use soil from your yard. There are tiny organisms in there and eggs from bigger things. You may end up with some unwanted cage guests. Any hardware store should carry potting soil. Just don't get the kind with slow release fertilizer. Plain potting soil with perlite will work fine. I put smooth river rock (big enough that they can't possible ingest it) on top of the soil to keep the chams from eating it when they zap a cricket that ends up in the pot.

I had one of my clients that got her plants, potted them in a deep pot with whatever soil was in it. Covered that with large river stones and coved that with a mixture of coconut husk and moss.

When she cleaned the cage she'd just replace the moss and coconut (from petsmart). Her veiled might dig a little, but could never get past the stones.

Good luck,
Matthew

I bought some topsoil the other day that "claimed" it was organic, but it has the fertilizer pellets in it. What I did was filled half of the pot with that and the rest with the stuff that is safe for her. Its deep enough she won't dig into.

I did have one of my plants that had these little annoying nat type things. I replanted it and they seem to have departed.
