Plant Question

Ok so I have been thinking about putting a live plant or two into our Chameleon Terrerium. But the problem is the way our appartment is, even if we moved the cage right by the window, no actual sunlight ever reaches inside. Is the basking light and UVB light enough to keep a plant alive?? Keep in mind our terrerium is larger than most (about 6 feet tall) not sure if this will make a difference.

I think the larger it is the better luck you may have. Some people alternate the plants from in the cage to outside. Some people also have a dual tube fixture and but the UV in one side and a grow light in the other....though I just use the UV. The pathos vine is VERY easy to grow inside without much light, and I believe would give you much success. We also have had decent luck with schefflera.

Provided they have enough water and nutrients, some plants do very well in the light provided by a chameleon enclosure.
I echo Ibesok's comments in that I have found that the ones that grow the best in those conditions are pothos and Schefflera. They are staples in my cages.
But I have also successfully grown Ficus, Camellia, Dracaena, Croton, Bougainvillea and Hibiscus in my cham enclosures.

I had to rotate the Hibiscus and Ficus outside to real sunshine every few months for a couple of months at a time to keep their foliage nice and bushy.

You'll probably be OK. If the plants start dying you could always buy another incandescent or fluorescent, even a CFL. Full spectrums work best. I don't think the UVB light has any effect on plant growth.

actually i heard plants need UVA more than it needs UVB.
with your 5% reptisun and basking lamp, i think it will be enough.
