Love the pictures Sandra. Sure a great looking boy and still a handsome little man. The very hardest part about having them is they get old way to fast.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments

He's a great chameleon. Been good natured and pretty healthy his whole life. Quite happy to come out of his cage and use me as transportation to the fig tree I have by the window.

It is indeed hard to see them get old so fast, but its great to have had him this long, and hopefully a bit longer yet. About 7 years old now - regrettably I'm pretty sure he wont make 8, he's loosing strength and weight now.

His father was also a great animal, also with a "friendly" nature and long lived (over 7). :)

Gimlie is a cross. His father was a pure Nosy Be, his mother was a cross. Although I also bred some pure Nosy Be and pure Ambilobe, I seem to like the unexpected and uniqueness in the Ambi Nosy crosses. So I eventually bred Gimlie to a pure ambilobe pretty female and got some nice offspring.
I've got two sons and a daughter sired by Gimlie now, and I'm hoping long life, tolerant nature and good health is somewhat hereditary!

I think one of the sons is going to look quite a bit like Gimlie eventually, with the orange. Most of the other males, including one other I kept, have come out a striking red and blue.

If I breed again in the future, I'll likely breed Gimlie's daughter to a pure Nosy Be. Its a mix that I enjoy, even if the Pure's sell for more :)

Well it sounds like you are breeding for enjoyment and for the surprises that come out from crosses.
While i believe that lines should be kept pure, im not such a die hard that i dont like crosses.
I think that there are some good attributes of color in various locales, and i would hope that by crossing them, you would get some of each part you like in the offspring...
and If you dont sell them as pure.... It doesnt matter if you keep them that way.
and if colored right, i could see spending more on a cross than on a pure, just because of the uniqueness of the coloring.

Sandra that is just a lovely, lovely cham. There is nothing in the world like having one be a part of your like for that long is there? In Arnold is also going down hill. I don't know how much longer he will make it.:(
