Padre (my Parsonii) Needs Your Thoughts and Prayers

Padre will be having surgery on Monday morning and I'm asking that you keep him in your thoughts and pray for him. I had my vet Dr. Alfonso here on Thursday and he found a hole in the bottom of Padre's mouth. It's called a fistula into the trachea. Dr. Alfonso referred me to Dr. Mader down in Marathon and I will be taking him tomorrow afternoon for a 7:45 Monday morning appointment. Dr. Mader says he will probably use a synthetic graft to fill the hole. He's not real sure how well it will work but says it's definitely worth a try. Please keep good thoughts for him.

I have some photos below of the hole. It is so very important to check the inside of your chams mouth. We check weekly and still missed this.

Thank you Jeremy. I get my guys checked often, at least every 3 months and they still have issues but catching them early has to be a plus.

Thank you Johnny and Ludger. Padre's a big boy for a chameleon. I'll post a photo of him for those that don't know him.

Padre has been added to my list, Jann. I will be sending positive thoughts his way, along with Luie, Red, and of course to you. Hope everything goes well.

Deb

Thank you so much Deb and Rob. Red is in remission and just when Luie started to feel a little better, now this. Sometimes I just feel like I'm not cut out to be a cham keeper even thought I love them so much and try to take the best possible care of them, stuff still happens.

Aww Poor Padre. I am so sorry to hear this jann I really hope that he makes a speedy recovery. I know you have been having such terrible luck with your chameleons lately I really hope there are no more problems. But you are right regular check up with the vet is always the best way to catch things early. and if its caught early most times it can be cured. You and Padre will be in my thoughts. Good luck on Monday!!:D

Gawd He is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I wouldn't beat your self up you are one of the best chameleon keepers I know of. Your devotion and care far surpasses most people. This is just rotten luck. I am sure things will get better.

Even the best Cham keepers have bad luck.

However i wish you and your buddy all the good luck in the world. Any info on the cause of that? I can speculate a few ideas but was wondering if you knew.

Thank you all so much.

Dr. Alfonso nor Dr. Mader have said anything about what might have caused it, at least not yet. What do you think might have cause this?

Don't let this get you down Jann. Your an amazing person and keeper, bad sh*t just happens to good people.. I wouldn't dwell to heavily on this little speed bump of padre's. There's something inside telling me that everything is going to be okay, must be that Cherokee intuition I inherited from my medicine man grandfather lol

Sorry sorry to hear this about Padre. Hope all goes well...he couldn't be in better hands between the vet's and you. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers.

I'll be wishing the best for Padre.

Did Dr. Alfonso offer any suggestions on how that might have happened?
