To help make sure the Chem does not eat the dirt. you can buy some river rocks (The polished ones that are oval shape) and place them over the dirt. I do this in all my cages. Make sure the Rocks are big enough that the Cham cannot eat those.

I get mine from Michaels art store. I believe you can buy a big bag at Home depot or Lowes. They are called Mexican ??? something or another. they are in the garden section.

Make sure the cover all the dirt you can even stack the rocks on each other. I have even had to remove some of the dirt to make sure the rocks fit properly.

The rocks can also help prevent those little knats (tiny black flies) that you may have seen buzzin around the cage. I was able to get rid of them using the rocks.

or go to walmart, Michaels, or Jo-Ann fabric store and buy a plastic canvas. Cut it into circle that fit your pot and cut a hole in the middle for your plants and fit it snugly to cover the soil. There is no way the cricket can dig the soil and hide in between rocks.

I believe they have different hole size.
