which one is better for draining.

im going to be building an 24x24x48 enclosure, just wondering whats going to be the better choice for draining considering i want something sturdy to hold live plants. stuck between having acrylic sheets at the bottom with some holes drilled allowing water to fall into a bin underneath. or mesh bottom with 2/3 wood reinforcements that will be coated with sealant

I think acrylic or plastic for the bottom would be a lot easier to clean. I would imagine that poop could be a pain to clean off a screen bottom. But, that's just a guess, I have no experience with a screen/mesh bottom.

plywood was one of my first choices than figured drilling holes to have water drain through will end up cause the wood to rot and such. valid point about clean up, can anybody else chime in on mesh/screen cage bottom?

see regardless of some sort of plastic or screen think im gonna use some sort of silicone especially so doesnt get inbetween the wood frame even though its going to be coated. than think just gonna have it drip into a bin underneath

I use plexiglass, 3/16 inch in a 2 foot by 4 foot piece bought at Lowes, you get 2 bottoms for 24x2; cages. It is about $50.
I paint the bottom side so you don't see throughout, and it cleans with a squeegee.
Screened bottoms are a nightmare to clean, and wood bottoms are difficult to seal so that water doesn't create mold.
Go plexi, you won't regret it.:D

great! thanks see acrylic/plastic/plexi their all located in the same area at lowes. what you just stated was exactly what i had planned with the 24x48 unless some other post persuaded me. just whatever material i checked out was cheaper and very strudy when doubled up for about 30$
