New rescue, meet Grumpy!!

So, for those who don't know or remember me, I work at Petco as a dog trainer. My main store doesn't carry reptiles (that goodness!), but in May, I started working at one that does, as they have no trainer. Needless to say, the staff didn't really know how to care for chameleons, and there was one who was terribly sick, wrecked with MBD, two eye infections, and a far gone respiratory infection. I took her home in hopes of getting her better, but she did not make it. Back in June, replacement chameleons came in. One was bought, and the other was there for months. He has no MBD, as I informed the Companion Animal Manager on proper supplements, however due to the enclosures we keep them in, he kept getting RI's, mouth rot, and was beginning to get an eye infection. He's been on baytril twice in the 4 months he was at the store, and when he started showing signs again, all it took was a little coaxing for our CADM to adopt him out to me 2.5 weeks ago.

With a well ventilated screen cage, variety of insects, and proper husbandry, his mouth rot is gone, the RI appears to be clearing up, and he's no longer trying to gouge his eye out on everything. He's been in my care for 3 weeks Friday. I called him Grumpy, due to his perpetual frown, and angry nature. He tried to bite me during every interaction at the store. He is not so Grumpy now, but still protests whenever I try to handle him (and that's okay).

He stays outside in the sun during the day, and we bring him in at night because he's still not 100% and I'm guessing he's about 6 months old. Right now he's walking around my backyard, eating grass and flies :p tail is up high, as he's on the prowl!! I am so glad this had a happier ending!

Poor Mr. Grumpy. So glad his story didn't end at the store and he has a good life now, even if he doesn't show it!
