Why can't I post in the health clinic ? I have a serious problem with my veiled and need some help. I tried reading the site rules and got nowhere. Is it because I'm new to the site? It is asking me to sign in before posting but I'm already signed in. I'm already registered too. I will post my problem here hoping that somebody will see it.
First off, I would like to introduce myself to the forums. My name is Joe. I have alredy found a wealth of knowledge from these forums and the experience that some of you bring is awesome to say the least. NOW MY PROBLEM My male veiled seems pretty healthy. He is eating regularily and drinking too. I'm not quite sure of his age. He is around 6-7 inches. I have only had him for 3 weeks. The pet shop I got him from "Global Exotic Pets" is known in my area as a good and reputable chameleon supplier. When I went in to buy a chameleon I hand picked a very small veiled and was advised against it because I'm new to this and the chameleon was too young(understandable). . Through my research into veiled cham's I noticed somebody thought their veiled was growing a horn in the middle of its head. Turns out it was an infection and had to be drained. The messed up thing is, my male has had a bump in the same spot and though it isn't growing, it concerns me a great deal. I have come to love the little guy and have put alot of hard work into getting him set up here. If anybody has had a problem like this, PLEASE HELP. I need to know if I should find a herp vet near me. I will post a picture of my guy (I named him JIGSAW) to also see if somebody can help determine his age. Thanks Last edited by joejoe519; 12-28-2007 at 10:19 PM.. |

Hey Joe!
Welcome. Posting a picture would be a great help. Trying to visualize what you're describing isn't very easy. A wellness check with an experienced vet is a good idea with a new chameleon whether he has a bump or not. Check out the links on my site for finding a reptilian vet in your area: http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/ Good Luck ... and, again, welcome to the forums. -Brad

Don't get me wrong when I voice my frustrations over the health of my Chameleon. Global Exotic Pets has a great reputation. Maybe I'm paranoid. My chameleon seems to be doing fine. I will post a picture when his light is on and I can see the bump more clearly.
I will contact the store tomorrow and find out. I'm sure he will be fine. Thanks for all the help. This site is awesome. Anybody reading this, I'm not in any way slamming the shop I bought him at. A few of my friends have had great success with them. Last edited by joejoe519; 12-28-2007 at 10:28 PM.. |
