Welcome to the forums. This is a great place to learn about chameleons. I would recommend a screen cage if you are planing to get a panther or veiled. They need allot of ventilation. I'm attaching my blog for new keepers of panthers andveileds and it tells you what I recommend you will need to get started along with links to pictures and where you can buy each item.

If you put a cham in that glass cage and place a basking lamp on top, you are going to have a cooked chameleon.

Not that you cant use all glass, but there needs to be proper ventilation and drainage.
Another thing about glass, chams cant climb it, they see through it, and get very frustrated with the invisable barrier sheild.

I would recommend that you use a screen cage since you are new, and starting out.

Hello, welcome to the forum. You live in a pretty hot location. If it were me I would be very careful what kind of cham I bought, and where I located it. Sadly as others have said, if you put a cham in glass where you live, it will kill it.

Even being outside on the deck without lots of water and shade could easily be to much for it. Read the links Jann gave you then maybe we can offer more useful advice.

That is an aquarium meant for water and fish, not a terrarium for air breathing animals. There are glass terrariums made for keeping animals which provide ample ventilation, however that is not one of them. Living in Texas is very hot and you will likely need an all screen cage. I have a hard enough time keeping my temps down in all screen with a portable AC in the room.

Check out our site sponsors as well as care sheets on the home page for supplies and details.

Like others said go screen, to buy one go to lllreptile, dragon strand or any of the other site sponsors. Just check the classifieds section for a good Cham!

I'm in Houston! Ne side. There is a Cham set up for sale on Craigslist. Keep looking there. Make list of what you need ...keep looking it will come up. If you get tired if your Cham contact me!
