Well been working on this lil dude's home off and on this week in anticipation of his arrival. I did barely get it finished before he arrived, but still want to let it all cure a cpl more days before setup and moving him in.

The little dude is 8" and is a red leather hypo het from southernbeardies. My daughter named him stuffy (i dunno where she gets these names from!). He is chilling in a 2x2x4 screen cage on its side and plastic covered until i am ready to put him in the 2x2x4 viv I just built him.

I love his name :)

I came up with weird names all the time when I was younger lol,
My first hamster Hamsty Hamst.

Congrats in the new addition

He is pretty, I love beardies. ZombieChameleon wanted a beardie really badly. I hooked his up with my sister who gave him a beardie, a new 55 gal tank, lid and stand to start him off with.:)

Thanks, I am wore out... spent all afternoon modifying the ventilation on the viv and incorporating a pc case fan on the back of the cool side so I could put in a little trickle waterfall. I didn't want the humidity issue so the fan seems to keep humidity down to 32% right at the waterfall.

I think it was time well spent with the additional vent's even if the waterfall does not work out. I then went out and did my best chain gang impression on a retaining wll stackable brick. I had some extra laying out back, so I took my small sledgehammer and started to rough it up and take off the square shape. I think it came out pretty cool and does not look like a paver anymore. Will take pix later, but to tired now. I finally have it setup for him to move into tomorrow morning.

Here is the setup for now, may add more later dunno.

BTW his basking stone... is a retaining wall brick. I watched cool hand Luke @ lunch and the chain gang breaking rocks gave me the idea to chip away at the brick to make a hide and a basking spot.

Nice beardie! Excellent work on the viv too! Ive been meaning to make one similar from a showcase i picked up a while back but just havnt got to it with all the cham stuff going on. This gives me inspiration to do so though!

I like the hide/ basking rock as well... What did you use to cover the styrofoam?

Thanks!

I had some different colored grouts laying around from doing the kitchen and baths... so I just used some painters caulk to seal the styrofoam where pieced together and fill any voids then painted the structure with the different colored grouts and used grout sealer to seal it up water tight.

Well seems I have been bitten by the beardie bug now as well. Picked up a cpl more to add to my collection.

1st addition is a hypo trans citrus leather female, she will be a stunner when she is grown. Her parents were both yellow headed with glowing orange bodies.

2nd addition is a citrus hypo female, her parents sire is a highlighter yellow citrus and dame a nice solid yellow citrus. Hoping for some major yellows from her.

and my other is the red hypo male I listed originally.

Have my eyes on another citrus male also, he is only 10weeks old and look at how bright he is already!

Great looking dragons - am sure you are going to have stunning babies from them. I'd caution you about the styrofoam hides - we did that, but what we found is that if a superworm escaped the feeding tub it would burrow into the bottom of the styrofoam, and then make a bit of a mess. Then, unnoticed, it would pupate and suddenly you'd have beetles walking around. My girls are great eaters, but once in awhile one would slip away quietly. If you keep a closer eye on that than we did (by the time we realized where they were coming from it was too late for the hide so we replaced it) you shouldn't have a problem at all. We also use paver stones to build a pyramid so that they can climb up to bask, or lay under it in the shade to cool off. Best of luck with your project!

Good concerns indeed, so the worm burrowed thru the grout? I covered mine completely underside and all is why i ask.
