New baby Veiled

I go pick up my new baby Veiled cham next Wednesday, i can't wait.

Been sorting out his new cage this past week. I decided to go with a Reptibreeze this time, my first screened cage, as my last Cham lived for nearly 7 years in a wood & glass tank that was made for him. I think the drainage is gonna be the hardest part, but i'm hoping ive got that sorted now. Gonna manual mist for the time being, but thinking of importing a mist-king setup sometime in the future.

I bought an exo-terra dual top canopy, and was gonna fit a Reptisun in it, along with a normal fourescent tube, but what i didn't realise is that exoterra flourescents are slightly smaller, and the zoo-med bulb won't fit lol, so gonna have to use a reptiglo's again.

A question i have though, can the Sun Glo 35w Halogen Daylight Lamp LINK be used as a basking lamp, or would i be best using my domed reflector and leaving that turned off ??

Will post some pics of the set-up in the next couple of days, and some pics of the baby when i get him :D

Some pics of the Finished Cage, just awaiting my baby now :D

Its a Reptibreeze 18 x 18 x 36 for now, will buy a 24 x 24 x 48 when the time is right. Although i'm not very keen on the cage, it doesn't seem to have been manufactured too well :(

2 live plants in there, a Ficus benjamina, and a Schefflera arboricola, along with vines & dowelling. Wanted a Hibiscus, but its just not the right time of year.

Basking Temp is about 82-83f. Bottom of the cage is about 66f. Humidity is between 60 and 85

Using a 40w Household Bulb for the Basking spot, which is right underneath 2 UVB bulbs, a Repti Glo 5 and a Repti Glo 2. also using a Sun Glo bulb to add brightness to the cage.

Let me know what you think ;)

looks really nice! I bet yuor excited to pick your guy up tomorrow. Your going to have a fun time trying to find him when he decides to hide in all those leaves!

I use the same dual top canopy on my cage. Have always used those 35W SunGlo bulbs with no problems. Keep in mind that babies need lower temps than adults as they can't thermoregulate so efficiently. As a result, they can easily over heat and become dehydrated. It is so exciting planning for a new baby cham! Don't forget to post pics! BTW the cage looks great!

Yep, i sure can't wait, hurry up Wednesday :D shame i'll never see him lol

I guess you use Repti Glo bulbs then Tiff ?? do you use a 5 and a 2 aswell ??

I'm gonna leave the Sun Glo off for the time being, and just use my basking lamp, i had got the temp to what i wanted with that.

Pics will be on as soon as i get him home lol if he'll let me of course

I use the ReptiGlo 10.0 and 2.0 - that's what the shop recommended. The mesh on top of the exo terra cages is very thick. I also use the 35W Sun Glo as I said before. Amy's lighting is the same as Lilys and she was a very healthy and happy cham-per, lol!

I brough my little guy home today, he pooped in the tub on the way home, and as soon as i put him in his cage he drank from a leaf :D

He's gorgeous, and i'll put up some pics real soon :D

Congrats on your new arrival! He is such a cutie-pie! To get the pics as thumbnails you need to reduce their size first (I think) then click on the Manage Attachments tab at the bottom of the thread/post you are creating. Select the pic/s you want to upload from your computer. That's how I do it anyway, but i prefer to put the larger pics in the thread - once you have attached a pic once you cannot upload the same one again using the manage attachments tab. I use Photobucket for all my pics and videos! Enjoy your new l'il fella - they are such timewasters, lol!:D

He cup fed for the first time today, he's not been liking the cup at all up until now. He got a Cricket and a Locust in the same shot :D
