New Additions! (Goats)

Hello all,

Well over the weekend, I got a pair of Nubian goats. They're really fun to be around, they act like dogs! They will jump up on their back legs and try to get you to pay attention to them.

The male's name is Willie, and the female is Belle. Hopefully within the next few years, I'll have little goats running around

Did the sheep thing when I was younger, and I must say, I'd much rather goats. These guys are just too cool

We let our bloodhound run around with them, and they showed him who was in charge!

Sweet! Goats are adorable and appear to have great personalities. I can't have them in my city, but occasionally they bring them in to eat fields of grass to be environmentally friendly.

What a different pet. What made you decide on goats? Every time I see baby goats, I just want to go play with them.

Well when I was younger I had cows, chickens, sheep, ans pigs. My girlfriend had a pig but we brought him to the butcher 6 months ago and we just wanted another livestock animal. These are pets though

I've had to give Belle a shot, and after I did she yelled at me. They're a hoot to watch.

Goats are pretty cool - a lot of my neighbors down here have them, because we live on the outskirts of Naples, in a rural area. I've given some thought to them, but we do have too many predators around like panthers and bears for me to be at ease. Plus, at 10 animals I don't need any more right now!

As a side note, when I was on Maui they had a goat dairy called Surfing Goat Dairy. Surfers would donate their retired surfboards and they would put them on cinderblocks for the goats to play on and around. It was really neat, and the goats were adorable!

I've discovered that the female likes apples. She about knocked me over today when I brought them some apples. I'll have to get some more pictures up.

Hey Laurie-

I've been really busy with the goats. Apparently the guy who I bought them from lied about stuff regarding them. I've had to give them iron and vitamin a supplements because they are so loaded with worms. The male was bloated when I bought him, and he is looking more normal. The female is putting some weight on. I feel really bad for them, but I'm going they are getting better

I hope they get better soon! I love goats, when I was like 3 my dad let me ride one, it was hilarious! They are actually pretty smart creatures, I'd love a little baby goat if I had the room!
