Hi I'm trying to find a good home for a cham somewhere close to Eugene OR.
He's a Jackson Chameleon, his name is Dexter and he's about 3 months old. We just took him to the vet 2 days ago and he is in really good health. He's really active, dose like to just sit under the heat lamp and do nothing a lot but he's always awake and fully alert during the day. He's very strong and has really good color. He was having a problem eating but that was because the crickets we had were to big, and we were having problems finding the right size.
The reason I'm trying to find him a home is because my ex bought him because he wanted a cool pet and for some reason everybody that he talked to said it really wasn't hard to take care of a cham. So he bought one with out knowing anything about them. I've been the one taking care of it and he just dose what I tell him needs to be done, he has no plans on taking time to read and learn any more himself, unless maybe its really sick and he has to (but probably not because it would be almost dead before he realized something was wrong). In short I'm refusing to let him keep it, and realistically I know I don't have the recourses or the space to take care of him myself.
I would like to find someone who has experience with chams. That someone will be willing to put in the time and effort it takes to care for a new pet, also has the space and funds to keep him. Preferably they would have other cham's, reptiles, or at least someone who can vouch for them and pics of past pets. I would hate to move him from one bad home to another, I just want to make sure that he'll have a good home.
My first choice would be finding him a good home, but if anyone knows about any organizations that will take him in and find him a good home I would love to hear about them. I have found a few that I'll start getting in touch with but if anyone has first hand experience and could suggest a good place or just advise which one's to stay away from that would be amazingly helpful.
I would like to find a good place as soon as possible any and all help is appreciated.
