ok so i just started to build a new cage for a veiled female .
building this cage i was thinking why not build one for an argentine tegu or savannah monitor(since i've always wanted one) .
what do you suggest : argentine tegu or savannah monitor?

should i go for one of these ? or should i get a pair of panthers?
whats your opinion ?

Well consider your location... if you need a vet or resource to assist with husbandry is there a anyone around you familiar with the species your after. To me thats very important, I would not try to keep something that I could not get support for. I say that because around me locally the vet's only seem to be active in the normal reptiles, bearded dragons, turtles, snakes, etc...

well where i live, here are no vets that know about chameleons, monitors tegus- almost all reptiles....so this is very hard for me.
vets from here only know cats, dogs, turtles and thats it....and they dont know even for this animals what are they doing.
saying that ...keeping reptiles in my country is kinda tricky with vets, supplies etc...very hard to find supplies, even live food is hard to find ( especialy bugs-very expensive and very darn hard to get them)...
I must say that everything my cham needs i must build it my own and i must improvise .
So keeping chameleons, monitors, tegus, snakes etc is the same-kinda hard .
So the only support i can get and trust for is the internet and forums.
I was thinking that when a savannah monitor and a tegu grows to subadult and adult stage will be easier for me to feed them.

ahh yeah I gotcha.

I am partial to the tree monitors myself, I love the blue, yellow or even green ones the most. The black tree monitors /shrug not so much. Sadly the Blues are so expensive!

My gf has a female Argentinian b/w Tegu and she's the coolest thing.

Tons of personality, SUPER easy to care for, fairly long-lived, and a manageable size.

Here is a video she made, you can see how tame they get: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvNBDR9pAI8

Personally, I would go for one of the red tegus, they are just so badass looking.

Tanya free-ranged her at that apartment in the vid (now she is in a big cage), and Teeju made the laundry room her home. She even made herself a nest with some extra blankets that were laying around lol. The first time I slept over there a few years ago, I woke up to this cold reptilian body snuggling into bed with us for heat at 5am LOL. That was the moment I knew I found the girl of my dreams <3

i will start to build the enclosure ,i still need decide what should i choose !
can you give me some info about what does she feed her ? i will appreciate that, thank you

I've got the exact same thought ATM, I'm building a 7 and 8 viv stack for my chams and my sisters fella is sellin his tegu and I'm thinking should I build a viv for him as well, don't no what to do!!!!

Tegus eat anything. They are 'garbage can' herps.

Liver, whole eggs (fun to watch), rats, fish, canned tuna, any and all vegetable/fruit scraps, canned dog or cat food. Dates & figs are good. lean turkey. ................. 'whatever' is the answer I got when I ask Tanya LOL.
