My very first one...

First, I would like to apologize that I don't have a photo of my very first hatched chameleon .

However, I would like to share my exciting news, that I have thwarted Brad Ramsey's attempt of cornering the market on R. brevicaudatus in order to take over the world  with my very first CH chameleon. Dang these guys are TINY!

So, what is more embarrassing was that I was expecting the little dude on the 24th, so when I went to check on the egg (Sunday is my weekly check day) I see this little guy starring up at me. I have no idea when he hatched.

I put him in a small kritter keeper, misted it and went out and got some FF. The FF are a pain to contain in a KK, so this morning, I put the little dude in a heavily planted 10 gallon and flooded it with the FF that has a screened lid (way easier to contain).

I put an incandescant on one end for heat and a piece of banana for the FF.

He appears to be alert but I have yet to see him eat.

So is the 10 gallon too big for the little guy?

Congrats, Amy!!:D That's so awesome! One of my R. Spectrum just laid eggs on Friday so I am looking forward to hearing about your dealings with this baby (these are my first pygmy's...). I, too, would appreciate any advice that you all have for Amy. :)

Congratulations. I think 10 gallon should work good for you. Just have to look for tiny poops. Sure sign that he/she is feeding.

Congrats!!! My first ever brev hatched on Saturday. I put a nylon stocking over a tiny critter keeper to keep the ffs in. Put that in my brev enclosure for heat and light. I have a 10 gallon, but think it's waaaay to big for him to find food in. As it is I don't think he's eating :(
I'm not surprised you can't get a picture -- I can't believe how small they are. Good luck!!!

That's about the only things pantyhose are good for LOL. One of the stockings slips right over the container (don't have to cut it), and it slips on and off easily for misting.

You are too bright!! I hate ff's as they always get out, any way to keep them in a 20 gal? That is where my 3 brev's are, but then we have the 3 more brev's I am taking home from soca, oh and the 2 I bought for my sister!!

I had my adults in a 10 gallon with one of the zoo med screen tops, and the ffs never got out. Now they're in an exoterra, and they don't seem to escape from that screen top either.

I've got about half of my baby brevs in a Kritter Keeper (or some such thing), and have left half in the big EcoTerra, where the eggs were laid and where they hatched (see this thread). Both batches are doing well; the only problem I've had with the bigger cage (which you may have with the heavily planted ten gallon) is it's sometimes hard to find them.
Mine have been more interested in pinheads than fruit flies (have tried both melanogaster and hydei); they'll eat both, but eat the crickets more readily.
Congrats on the hatchling, and best wishes for many more!

I didn't want to jinx myself with my very first hatchling but he has survived the week so I feel pretty confident that he is eating on his own and I did see a poop so here are some photos of York. I named him York, short for Yorkshire which is a breed of pig, since his is a pygmy - get it?

Just remember he/she is a week old in this photo so I am sure he/she is much bigger now.
