my little jird

I got a little jird girl the other day & I'm smitten! I've owned chinchillas but they've all had serious dental problems, which put me off getting another, but my heart was telling me to get one.... instead, I took a chance on this little girl & she's like a chinchilla minus the fluff!

She loves being rubbed under the chin & behind the ears. Her fur is super-soft! She's really shy but her curiosity always gets the better of her.

They are cute, I had no idea what a jird was, I thought it was a mis spelling so i had to google it Kind of like a giant gerbil?

basically, yea, she's super-sized gerbil lol. Gerbils have never appealed to me but I had heard these guys are really affectionate & it's true

Awww, my chinchilla used to love chin rubs so much she would lean right over to one side with her head right back! I thought Jirds looked dfferent to that, lol! Must be thinking of the Egyptian sort - something that has a really long tail with a tuft of fluff at the end! Can't remember what it's clled though!

there's sundervils & the eygptian ones. She does have a bit of a tufty tail, it's very cute! She behaves exactly like a chinchilla when I rub her chin, she just can't resist it, it's jird heaven! I'll try to get some pics but at the moment, she runs under the sofa if I take my eye off her for a second

She sat on my lap for 20 mins tonight, just being stroked She loves her daily massage.
