My Herd of Hedgehogs...

I currently have 13 African Pygmy Hedgehogs

Penelope.....albino.....


Tiberius (Penelope's son).....albino.....


Munchkin.....dark eyed cinnecot.....


Pearl.....chocolate pinto.....


Horatio.....chocolate snowflake pinto.....


Yini.....chocolate.....


Uhura.....choc snowflake.....


Peggy.....brown snowflake.....


Esme.....red eyed cinnecot.....


Sheldon.....brown snowflake.....


Diego.....chocolate pinto.....
excuse the state of him - he is a rescue hoggie and came to me in a right mess


Sherbert.....choc snowflake.....


I will also be collecting this little chap in august....

Raiden.....possible dark eyed white.....


oh and one tenrec - its not a hedgehog but he does have spines

my sister and her boyfriend were supposed to get a hog. they never did. needless to say i'm pissed. those things are an overdose of cuteness

I was going to get one but I heard they need to have their cage clean every other day! How do you manage to keep all 13 stink free?? They are very cute though!!

Ok, that is it, where do you live? i am coming over to spend an afternoon cuddling with those adorable, cute, sweet, darling little things. Either that or you put one in the box today. most people avoid visits from me.

Awe cute! I had a Dark eyed Cinnecot a few years ago and we lost him due to a bad batch of cat food. I would love to have another one some day but they require so much handling or they get huffy and those spines make me itch when they stick ya. They do make nice pets if you find a good breeder that breeds for temperament and handles the babies alot.

all of mine are litter trained - they either poop on the wheel or in their litter tray. I wash the wheel with oilatum which makes the poop etc not stick and it goes in the tray (the wheel stands in the litter tray) so I only need to clean the litter tray everyday and all the cages get a full clean once a week The only time they ever smell at all is when the females are in the later stages of pregnacy, but it is not that bad

yup all of mine come from good breeders

except Pearl who was rescued from a pet store and sent through the post!!
and Peggy whos owner did not want her anymore
and Diego who was housed with a female meaning they had back to back litters and killed them. They were fed on grapes + raisins (toxic) and tuna which isnt much good for them either. The female used to attack him - he came to me with sores all over his body and face and a broken jaw. He was also too weak to have a wheel

I am glad you were able to rehab all the ones with problems.

There are so many of you wonderful brits, I may need to make a trip over.

well the wild hedgehogs we have here are double the size of the African ones I have a pets. I would say they average about 6in in length - the tenrec is prob only 4in but hes a tenrec lol

So they basically fit in the palm of your hand?

I have one hedgeghog..
I really want to give him away since I feel bad about keeping him in a cage all day. But I do love him.

They are about the size of my hand, but im pretty young. X3

the tenrec does , but the hogs will fit on your hand with it flat - from wrist to fingertip

Yeah, I should let my little guy run around. He just poops like crazy.. XD

the ball pits are good cos if they poop you can just wipe them clean

Awww! I think little Diego is my favorite! He's adorable. They ALL are! How do you house them?

I house them in wooden vivs but with much more ventilation. They are all single except Peggy + Pearl who live together
