Well after the Reptile Super Show I knew for sure I was going to pick myself up a baby Amilobe Chameon, just couldnt do it that weekend cause I didnt have anything set up.

Went out and built my own cage, dip and misting system. Already had UVB 5.0 tube. and 50w halogen basking lamp... Understand they ar not needed when they are babys but raised light

So.. Went down to LLLReptiles Today and picked up me what I think is a nice looking baby "Ballar" Amibole Panther.

Dont have pics yet cause my phone is not with me and the camera has went missing.

Had him only for a few hours and started drinking immediatly didnt mind the mister coming on, accually seemed to enjoy it. Hunting freerange small crickets right away. Just been cruising around checking out the new home.

He definently one active little guy cant be bigger than my pinky minus the tail ofcoarse..

Just so I get this out of the way lol and can copy nd paste later with updated info when I ask about something and dont have to worry about filling the entire thing out everytime hopefully.

congrats on your new little one. Do you know if it is a male?? Just remember to monitor the heat lamp, babies can overheat easy. It is always best to feed them soon after the lights come on so they have the heat to digest there food. My baby Nosy Be eats a ton, like 20 - 25 crickets a day.

Can't wait to see some pics. The LLL reptile staff are always helpful, I go there once a week to see there new babies.

Yeah read a lot about them easily overheating, raised the lamp a waise up thus hottest spot directly under lamp was 83 but that was like an inch away from the screen.

I do not know if its a Male Or Female choose not to ask them what they thought it might be decided to pick the one I thought was the healthiest looking to me since it will be my first Cham in over 10 years lol( had a couple Veiled Chams long time ago. Hoping its a male but still will be happy if its a female as long as it will be happy and healthy.

83 Should be good as long as it doesn't increase with the temps we are expecting this weekend. Baller?? I know I have seen him before...... Heard his name quite a bit so i am sure he will be amazing.

well the place stays pretty cool mayb 75 max like today even if its 110 outside, not near any ac vents or anything etc.

Well GF named it Slice.. so lets hope its a boy lol.

Got a few picks now that I have my phone.

What a cutie! If you really want to know the sex of Slice take a few clear side profile pictures of the vent area some members on here are great at sexing.

Have you seen a picture of Ballar before? He is a stunning chameleon from
Chameleons 101.

Assuming "Ballar" from Chameleons101 but ofcoarse not for sure as I didnt ask. I plan on for now to keep basking light off this weekend while im not home during the day to see what the hi/lo temp and humidity is before leaving basking lamp on unnatended.

I would leave it on. If you have the AC on and have monitored the temps you should be good. He needs the heat to digest his food. The cage looks good but it is too big for a baby. Make sure that you give him plenty of food so he can find them.

Yeah, Cage isa little big for him, cup feed at the moment to make sure he finds food, let a couple free range and so far gets lucky and found the 2 I let free range.

Yeah left the heat lamp on, max was 82.3 at basking spot. He only ate about 8 crix today decided he didnt want the others i guess. Guess when the GF came hoe he was hangin out under the dripper drinking. By the time I got Home he was asleep.

Also picked up a Hibiscus today as well... still need to repot it and clean it beofre putting it in the cage.

He he is from me accidently waking him up when I came home today

LOL I do the same thing when I work late sometimes.... He looks good. My Ambilobe has never been a big eater or drinker. sometimes heats a lot and sometimes only a couple. My Nosy however always eats all but one. For some reason he always saves one... How does his waste look ??

New plant from HD, Havent had a chance to see it yet, been dark, and didnt want to disturb him anymore than I already have. Also have screen bottom so if it drops i need light to see it. Also he pretty much was fed this monring and ran out the door for work right away so couldnt watch him go #2 Adding papertowels tomorrow and this weekend getting a peice of ABS 1/4" sheet cut to fit the bottom of cage.

How long does it typically take for them to make a bowel movement after eating? Also do they nomrlaly "drop" or can they be left behind on the leaves etc? Just curious so I know if I have to search for it or should be on the bottom of Slices' cage.

It depends on where he decides to go.... Sometimes it is on the the leaves and sometimes on the bottom. You want to make sure it has white on the end ( that is a sign of his hydration) mine usually go 2-3 hours after lights are on. Do you have everything timed? Mister? If so what kind?

Yeah, UVB/Basking Lampo on from 9am-9pm Mister is done manually 3 tims a day so far, getting high pressure "RO/DI" pump tomorrow which us 125psi and will be timed 3 times a day for 1 minute until I get a seconds timer. I manually mist in the morning when lights first come on and see him awake. drip is Timed using a aqualifter pump 20 mins 3 times a day. about 1 drop every 2 seconds sometimes get one onbetween lol.

Problem I typically leave by 9:20-9:15 unless i have the day off. I would prefer to have lights on/off at 10am/10pm to I can see him when I get home... But want to make sure he is eating etc when i feed him before leaving for work.

LLL reptile has a good misting system. Mr moisture a complete setup that i use and have it set for 5 times a day for 1 minute to 2 and it works great. I know what its like... I get up early to feed and observe my boys before work.

Also picked up a Bougainvillea x buttiana for the yard, Im seeing that Bougainvillea glabra is cham safe, is the one I picked up Bougainvillea x buttiana also named Barbara Kurst Bougainvillea cham safe.

Would be cool if it is. Lots of flowers and color.
