Moving across country in august - what to do?

So, in late August, I plan on moving across country to California to be with my boyfriend. I want to take my Veiled with me and I already have a friend lined up for my pygmys. My questions: would it be too stressful for him to be shipped? If not, what should I do to ship him? Do I need to start any prep now, a few months in advanced, to get him ready? I honestly have NO idea what to do or where to begin, so ANY advice is more than welcome.

If you are moving in August then you do need to ship him. Only a few minutes in the car for you to run to the bathroom would over heat him. Can you ship him to your boyfriend before you leave? If that won't work, is there anyone near you that will watch him until you get to CA to receive him? We have a number of NY members, if you start now maybe you can get one of them to chamsit until you are ready for him. The shipping it's self is easy. Go to one of our sponsors (upper right hand corner of the screen) ship your reptiles, thay have a video on how to do it and will send you all the supplies.

Oh wicked! Yeah, my BF will be out in California, so i figured I'd send him out two days before I leave and send him overnight. I figured I had to ship him, anyway.

Suggestion: ship him to be held at the shipping office. Ask your boyfriend to do the pickup. That will spare him the day in the non-air conditioned delivery truck.

As long as you use proper packaging and pay attention to weather guidelines, you should expect success when shipping your reptiles, chameleons included.

August can def get a bit warm, but we have temperature guidelines at our site, in the Get Help section.

When it is really warm, or hot, shipping directly to a facility is a great idea, as it does save the exposure time on the delivery truck, and the package is available for pickup first thing in the morning.

We cover "Hold at Facility" booking in our Get Help section as well:

And we are always happy to help by phone or email if you have questions.
