Mist vs Drip?

Do you need to do both? Or can I just use a drip system for awhile?I assume I would just Keep it over top of the potted plant I will be putting in the cage so it drips down into the soil. Just want to be sure before I get a chameleon.

Drippers are better for giving drinking water or keeping a chameleon hydrated.
Mist systems are more for keeping humidity up.

I use both.

That seem very reasonable to me. I would still offer $200 to start. Cham looks healthy, good size cage. Lots of extras also. If you are ready for this I would go for it.

Hope you get the Veiled..... Use both for hydration.. If your like me... gone all day. Get a Mist King and the large Zoo Med dripper, it will drip all day;)

Also your plant WILL flood if you drip into it all day....You need to get a catch container for the exrta drops. I use a tupperware container with a screen top and a drain pipe that drains into a empty milk jug

I, personally, think that misting is way more important. Misting isn't just important for drinking and humidity, but it plays a part in keeping their eyes clean and their skin healthy. I do a couple mists a day that are 15-20 minutes long and my chameleons will sit under the nozzle (instead of being in the dry corner) the entire time, rolling their eyes to wash them out and just to soak their skin.

If you can do both, great. If you can only do one, I say do misting. And do mistings longer than 3-4 minutes if you can.

I just use my mist king. I have a dripped but never even set it up after I installed my mist king

Ahhh ok. Also does that ad have everything I need? Maybe a bulb that gives off no light for nighttime? And do I need two heat lamps on at once. I texted the guy from the ad and we discussed it a bit. Hopefully my dad is up to it, as he thinks it would be cool too.

You dont need two heat lamps at the same time. However, you'll need the heat lamp and a UVB lamp. Also, you wont need a bulb for night heat. They like a night time temperature drop. Unless it gets colder than 55 degrees in your house, you'll be fine with no heat at night.

U don't need two heat lamps. One should be fine. If u can afford a misting system then it's a huge benefit for u and the cham. Im not home all day so hand misting is out of the question for me.

I could put the potted plant in a bucket and leave the drip on during school, then mist when im home. That way if it overfills. And yeah ill have to check the temp, during winter it can get colder, and I usually have a fan on during the night xD but ill have to check the temp xD

I've heard that a dripper can be invaluable, as it mimics rain and the natural movement chameleons use to find drinking water in the wild. I suppose you can accomplish this with a misting system, but who wants to set there with a spray bottle? I would go dripper first, make sure you have proper drainage and mate supplement with hand misting when shedding or to keep humidity up. I don't think without a misting system you can keep up with the water needs, plus you could stress them out by being around so much. Jmo, hope it helps.

Yeah, I will probably just do both just to be safe. This is if I can scrounge up enough cash. The weather needs to get warmer sooner so I can start mowing lawns again D:
