Melleri on Craigslist Dallas

Hey I saw a melleri on craigslist yesterday and was wondering what everyone's opinion on adopting one of these guys are, it would come with a cage, but I would like to free range him/her in a spare bedroom I have if I were to get it.

From what i've read it seems like they are for experienced chameleon owners only, which i'm not, but if something needs a good home I generally like to try and help it out.

If anyone is more experienced is in the dallas/ftw area pm me and i'll link you the post, if not could i get some more care info on them. I've looked around a little bit, but most of it seems like general chameleon care(like my veiled). I am mainly interested in what would be different from the veiled.

Here are some differences that I can think of (my experience with veileds is minimal): Melleri need lower temps and more water. They also seem to be more susceptible to skin issues and more sensitive to oversupplementation. In addition they need more space and especially males can go through periods of restlessness if they don't have a mate.
But the biggest difference is the knowledge base. We simply don't know as much about melleri yet and what we know is based a relatively small number of animals and keepers. This makes melleri care a lot more unpredictable.

Excuse me for my english.

Melleri need hot temp and lot of water, but not in the air (hygrometer), they need to drink a lot.

My opinion for breeding chameleons in a room is that this room must be for chameleon and that all.
a human mustn't live with chameleon, they have disease and lots of things that we don't know.

For me a chameleon is in a chameleonarium or in a sprcific room for chameleon.

ciao

I wonder if it is the same melleri that was on cl in June in Dallas FW? At that time, the owner decided to give it another try, maybe he changed his mind?

I guess no basking with chameleons allowed there just kidding...
lol... i would hand a sign at the door that said "chameleons only."
but, i might risk a lawsuit from kammerflage

on a serious note, i do agree with Pardaforever's point.
Best to not share a bedroom with your chams.
check Kristina Francis' website for more info for meller (just click on her signature link).

a chameleonarium is a terrarium but for chameleon, not glasses but mosquito net (grillage in french).

it's better than terrarium for chameleon.

Thanks for the clarification. Then all our dreams have come true of having chameleonariums! I think only few people with brevs and such use glass cages, as it is discouraged
Did you ever hear back from her about the Melleri?
