Got my first roach today, that I paid for (no really)! Freaked me out all day thinking about them coming and not knowing what to expect. Really almost fainted when I opened the box, you should of seen me! Had a wet suit on and fully gloved! Not! But did have on gloves and my trusty 10" forceps on me, but they did not like being grabbed by them. It was hard to move them, they did not want out of their carton they were in... awesome bugs! I like em! Help aliens have attacked me and entered my brain, did I just say I liked them? Their scratching around bothered me, all that racket, but they like their new home, tomorrow I will give them shorter food cups, they dont seem to like these. It was funny, I was trying to move them and had the small egg flat in my hand and I looked at one and it looked back as if to say, Ah! shes gonna touch me, and i was saying to myself... Ah, it's gonna touch me....

thats a nice and neat set up you have. Makes me want to make mine look like that! I know what you mean about how icky they are. I use a spatuala to scoop the big guys up with!! Plus im wearing those thick rubber gloves that go up to your elbows! The first night I had these guys in my house I woke up about every 45 minutes becasue I kept dreaming they where in my bed:eek:

Lol I did the exact same thing when I first got them, minus the spatula part. I just shook the box they were packaged in violently inside a rubbermaid bin. Then I realized that now I had to take all the packing peanuts out . I took them out one by one inspecting each packing peanut making sure no roaches were on them. It had to of taken like 2 hours lol. But now, it isn't so bad and I don't mind having them, still use the gloves though ahah.

If you stand your egg crate up on it's side the poop will fall to the bottom of the tank and not collect in the cups.:)
Roaches are way better than stinky crickets!

(LOL) Rebecca,

You handle maggots and flies, and everything else, and these roaches make you cringe!?!?!.....:D:p

The set up looks nice and cozy, great job!

haha, I know what u guys mean, I was too tired after getting them out of their shipping egg crates to wake up, I did let a tiny one grab me bare finger to right itself! But the bigs ones, no way! Stay on your back lol, I not helping you! Yea I like giving things a nice home, it makes the hobby so much more fun when u put some time in it! I glues the corrulagated cardboard strips to the egg crates for the little ones to have a hiding place, we will see how they like it.

I had some pineapple I cut up for a fruit salad and papaya and strawberries heads, then some celery, is that ok? Also I make my own blend of feeder insect grains, with milk, whey, alfafa, laying mash for protein, dog and cat food, brewers yeast for growth, corn, wheat, oats, and a few other things go in there, all my feeders and grain pets love it, the crickets get it and the worms get something close to that.

Wow, your roaches eat better than I do! <g>
