I have a rescued veiled w/ mbd & I use a reptarium on it's side. This way he still has lots of room. As he has gotten stronger I've add more branches for him to climb. He has a potted pothos in there & there's where he spends all of his time. I cup feed him because he can't move fast enough to chase the crickets down. I got a cup that fits right under the ledge of the pot. It works out great.
It sounds like you probably caught the mbd in time. It makes me very happy that you did the right thing by getting it to the vet. If you didn't this pic could have been the outcome. This is Rocky, my rescue. His previous owners didn't do the right thing by him.

Howdy Littlevillage,

If that is a recent photo of your Veiled, it looks like he has a hemipenal plug just waiting for you to carefully pull out .

Jeremy l said..."We ended up calculating a dose of a liquid calcium and gave it to zuse with a shot"...will he be getting more shots? If not, what else will be done to help him recover?

littlevillage...what are you doing to help your rescued chameleon recover?

Jeremy-these are the 3 most highly recommended supplements...How old is your cham? We can help you figure out a schedule. In an earlier post you said the UVB was new. Have you not had UVB on him since you got him? If not-that was your problem from the beginning. It looks like both chams you have had are having some issues-that is when you really need to re-check your husbandry/daily care.

He seen a vet when I first got him & I was told that he was to weak for a shot. The only thing I can do for him is to make sure his food gets dusted every day. 5 day calcium, 1 day calcium w/d3. He has improved & can climb some. When I first got him he couldn't climb at all.

the calcium i was using was the flukers with d3. i have since bought the rep-cal herptvite and calcium. i was meaning that the reptisun 5.0 linier was a new bulb when i got it and that it was not an older bulb. he has been under it for 2 months i have had him for about 3 months. at first i had the wrong bulb but i changed that. i have gone over all my husb. and all is correct in the fact of lighting temp. and food. i think i went wrong in the supplimenting part. and i did not think about vitimens until recently. my panther is actually very healthy in the since hes eating and very active. theres no weezing or sneezing or any sort on his breathing and he is good and meaty but not fat. he poos often and it all looks the part. i have since wondered if i was doomed from the start for buying my veild from the pet-co. they do not feed their babies what they need and there is NO uvb of any sort, and im wondering it that was a starting cause of mine having problems and then me not knowing supplimenting schedules and all that was needed. i know so much more now than i did but it may be too late for one.

Zuse having breakfast ! i think he was happy which makes me feel good :

i mixed calcium with d3, rep-cal herptivite, cricket guts and 1 wax worm for fluff with water and mixed and crushed everything all up until it was liquid and put it into a syringe ( w/o the needle ) and fed it to him and he enjoyed. he was hungry. then i fed him 3 live crickets by putting them into his mouth. otherwise he dosent eat unless i open his mouth and stick the cricket in. then toped it off with water. i think he feels better. once i got a good bit of food in him he started to color back up, and it made me feel good because i think he felt good.
