Madagascan Hissing Roaches

Yes they most likely would but they have a very hard exo skeleton. Wouldn't be a good staple diet, thats for sure. I'd love to see a a parsons eat one though. That'd be real neat.

Yeah, I can see them beardies chomping them up good. I bought 2 male and 2 female just for the heck of it. I was picking up my order of 600 Dubia and he mentioned $5 each for the hissers so I bought 4 lol. They are hilarious to bug. No pun intended lol.

You see yours eat much? My dubia go after food like there aint no tomorrow... But the Hissers seem like they dont care a whole bunch.

I've only had them about a week now and I haven't noticed them eat much. I keep plenty of food in for them but they don't seem to be as big of pigs as I thought they'd be.
My Dubia on the other hand go nuts for the apple and orange slices I throw in for them along with the roach coach. They eat pretty much anything so they are easily gutloaded :)

Get ready for lots of hissers!
Mine bred like CRAZY!
Terrible feeders as adults though....mostly because they fight back!

Did you know that Mad. hissing cockroaches are capable of recognizing their keepers and will soon stop hissing at the owner?
(I can't find the article right now...but it was interesting to learn that.)

It's true!
Kinyonga told me this several months ago.
With all my nieces and nephews...the roaches got held a lot and they did stop hissing.
Kind of frustrating when you want to demonstrate this to someone!!
They are so laid back...great pets.

ABSOLUTLY!!! I think they even know my name..I have had the same 4 male adults now for about 6 months. They def know me. They will stop look straight up at me and come running up to the top of container cause they know I am going to open it and feed them. Its funny. I have grown to accept these guys as pets now.

I dunno if I could ever classify these things as pets, but they are cool to make hiss lol. I doubt mine will ever get used to me and stop hissing because I always poke them with my finger to make them hiss lol.

Hissers are Great bugs,i started with a pair and have 100's now!,It took a long time to get the production up, but I am at a good point now as my group are producing good 3.5 cm roaches that really are not that hard, there soft and im sure these would be a food eaten in the wild for madagascan chameleons, i find them a great feeder! well worth getting a few!!:)

Why is this in "chameleon breeding" LOL?

Feeding Hissers

I bet the nymphs and large nymphs are better for the smaller chams. My 3 foot savannah monitor eats a few adult hissers a month,CRUNCH CRUNCK in addition to dubias, lobsters, and in the future discoids. My whites tree frogs like the baby hissers too. And adults will live and breed 2-5 years.

Feed the "ghost roaches" to your chams
I pick out the ones that are newly shed
Their exoskeletons are soft and tasty at that stage

and they go down easy!
lots of gut load in one roach for your hungry friends.
