Least favorite thing about keeping chams

out of all the amazing pro's of keeping chams

what are your least favorite cons?

I'll start off with 2.

1. I don't really like sacrificing my free time to care for them or worry about there health while I am away.

2. I don't like the fact that they get agitated if you put cages close to each other, it would be a nice perfect world if you could stack them in a row and have them all be chill

Only on thing I can think of and that is easy!

CHIRPPING CRICKETS!!! freakin hate those things...

edit: just thought of another... for some reason I find Supers Everywhere... From Worm to beetle... and they are all secured in their cups to... I have no Idea how the ones I find are getting out... Bugs the crap out of me...

EASILY crickets.

The solution to crickets is quickly becoming the new #1 problem - Roaches... hate those just as much.

1. I don't like worrying about misting them enough. The water get's all over the place and I still don't know if thy have had enough to drink.

2. Buying them nice plants to crawl around and munch and what do they do? POOP IN THE PLANTS. Then, I have to try to fiddle with all my branch highways to get the plant out to clean it off.

Those are my least 2 favorite things about my precious babies. :D

Cricket Stench

Always On The Look Out For Something Unusual With My Chams.(paranoia) U Can Only Hope They Lead A Full Life.

And I Agree Bout Those Chirping Crix...

Beside All Those, Its Been Very Rewarding!

Dank! Don't have kids! :) Both 1 and 2 petain to that! I had to buy a mini-van just so none of them could touch each other on car rides!

Cons for me:
1. Crickets!
2. Spiders that live everywhere eating the crickets!

1) CRICKETS !!!!!
2) cleaning a cage to have it pooped in 5 mins later. Its almost like Doku waits till i come clean just to poo......Thanks buddy....thanks alot !

Are there any holes in the lids? They can chew their way out of a plastic lid starting from the air hole if they can reach it. I think they can chew through vynil window screening too, but im not sure. I've seen some shippers use metal screens on the top of the lid to ensure they don't get through.

my major gripe would be

1) catering my home to his ego. :D

I'm with everyone else:

1) Crickets (stinking, chirping, eating)

2) The fact that whenever I have some free money I say to myself "Hmm, I could pay some bills, but I really want this chameleon..." bills win...most of the time, though....

You guys that say crickets should try getting the younger pre-wing crickets( 4-week old) They don't die as soon so they don't stink as bad and they don't chirp. They are almost the same size to boot. It's been a no brainer for me after I gave em a try.

On a similar note as this thread, I was all excited last night that I was going to get to dig up eggs. So what happens when I'm getting started... a female(human) comes over and wanted to have a sleep over;). I told her that I couldn't cause I had to play with my lizards  I hated that, but I had to get those eggs:(

The things we give up for chameleons...;):p

I would have to say (in addition to crickets) that having a cham has given me a new dislike for water and how it gets everywhere and really destroys things.

the bugs are almost as much maintenance as my chameleons, lol.

my biggest gripe

1. the constant complaining that i recieve for giving the chameleons more of my time and attentions than anyone else.

I'm ok with most aspects of cham keeping except when the chams turn up the music too loud after 11pm and , oh ya, also the empty beer bottles all over the cages the next morning....LOL

crickets are no big deal for me. Disposable containers, easy capturing methods, and finding ways to drastically lower death rates has taken them from a dread to almost nothing.

Now my least favorite things:

1. Constantly worrying about his health
2. Hunger strikes, my guy finicky and has a roller coaster for an appetite.

Great Topic Dank

I dont have any complaints here.
It's all about getting in a rythm.
I havent found a perfect one, but it's getting really close.
I enjoy everything about keeping my chameleons.
I love all feeders!
If you are complaining about crickets making noise, then why not buy them a bit younger?
Yes, crickets do stink, but would you have it any other way?
Roaches can smell too!
It isn't as strong, but if your like me I rotate feeders each week.
If the roach flats sit for a week, and you start turning them over to find small guys to feed- HOLY SMOKES!
It's just a quick whiff, but it still isn't very pleasant.
Superworms aren't any better.
If you dont change the bran once every two weeks, then you end up with a stinky garage.
Plants will die on occasion, but Joe and I have it down!
Just buy a few extra plants.
I have been extremely lucky with parasites, so no complaints there.

The costs are worth the reward in my opinion.
If you ever get the chance to buy a chameleon at a very youg age and raise it to adulthood then I would jump on it.
That is even if your not breeding.
If you want a pet that dosent cost money, then you need to stop looking for a pet.
I had my male Veiled for over a year before I decided to breed my own pair.

The only complaint here is.... space!
I'm just trying to make sure I have enough room to have baby cages without being cramped.
