Lady bugs!?

No, they are toxic. It probably wouldn't hurt if your chameleon was outside and grabbed ONE but they should not be used as a feeder.

Lady Bugs!

I would not bring a Lady bug into my house. I use to live in the north east and have seen them infest houses.

Oh and any tips on how to get the crickets to go to the top of the cage? Lady bugs are attracted to light so I thought that'd be clever, but crickets like darkness!

When I put crickets in the cage they usually make there way to the top, because they like the heat.

im not sure about this at all. but id guess that the 2 wouldnt really run into eachother in the wild. and usually toxic insects have a bad taste so once one munches on it, it will probly spit it out

I just found that to be odd? What if they are them in the wild?!

Ok now think about this, they eat them they die. Doesn't matter where they are dead is dead. It can happen here, it can happen in Maddy - if they have lady bugs, which I doubt.

They are toxic, because they secret an alkaloid substance, which I believe works to stop the heart.

Calais needs to stop eating Lady bugs then  I get they in my house on occasion and I have found him catching them from his free range. On the occasion I have used him to catch them as well on my hand, I would hold him close to whatever bugs I needed him to "exterminate" and he would do the deed. But I guess no more ladybugs for him. They free range on my porch during most of teh year and it gets infested with ladybugs so I guess they will need to come in when that happens.

I have 2 large fake plants at the back of my guys enclosure and that is where the lucky crickets always go. I go in there every few days and drive them out for my little man. Is there something that I could put in that would attract the stray crickets?

People do not recommend letting crickets stay in the enclosures for a length of time, they can bite your chameleon while it is sleeping. I highly recommend cup feeding your chameleon. That way you know exactly how many he is getting and they aren't running amuck.

Plus they are no longer gutload after several hours.

I recommend tubs over cups. Chameleons seem to like it better in a tub because they can still hunt food down.

Ladybugs are certainly toxic, i've heard horror stories of them poisoning pets... Cute little things... but not the best idea for a feeder.
