Ordered a cup o' horn worms on Friday last week and finally got them last night. Well, as you can guess, I received extra-large horns at my door. It's been warm and they had eaten most of the food. Really beautiful worms, but the size of my finger and as fat as my thumb! I sent an e-mail to their customer support explaining my problem and got a reply this am. New cup on it's way and she has instructed the "pickers" to get the small ones to me asap. She also included a picture of Fred the "shop panther." what a handsome guy. Regardless, in this day and age, it's nice to have such great support staff as Rainbow Meal Worms has. Top notch folks. I'll try them again soon.

Thanks for the post! I was looking at ordering some spikes, but wasn't sure since I'd never ordered from them before. This post definitely helped get me off the fence!

I absolutely love Rainbow Mealworms. I almost always get my hornworms from them. Only once did I not and quickly realized how generous Rainbow is about providing adequate amounts of food in their hornworm cups. And their prices are outstanding. Nothing I've found yet compares.

Well.....I got notice that their at usps this am, so we will see what we have as soon as they open.

Might have some moths as hot as its been lol

Hopefully you requested smaller worms when you ordered, or overnighted them. I got the second cup this am. They're the perfect size for Lucky and look super healthy (Thank you Rainbow mealworms).

I put one in this morning and it "magically" disappeared. He wouldn't touch the second that I put in; go figure. Here's a size comparison of the first shipment vs. the current shipment. Right on, Rainbow mealworms!

My guy only eats silks and hornworms one at a time. I think they are quite a meal by themselves. I keep my cup of hornworms in a cooler. The fridge is to cold but if you have a small cooler place the worms in there with an ice pack not touching the cup. I change the ice pack in the morning and at bedtime. I can keep my worms for a few weeks that way.

Momato,

Good idea! I'll do that right now. The way those hornworms eat, they'll be 6" long by tomorrow! Any chance you know the approx. temp they should be kept at to prevent growth?

I think it's 50 degrees. I never measured I just use a small cooler and use a large blue ice pack. I just keep it a few inches from the cup. I always order the smallest worms and then use the cooler. Keep the cup upside down with a pencil or something so you are not suffocating them. That way when you open the cup the poop falls out. Also if the food is on top you usually have a few lazy ones that don't climb up as often. They stay a little smaller. Always feed the biggest one and they should make it much longer.

Got it. Thank you.

Just got an updated e-mail from Gillian @ Rainbow mealworms:

"That is so good to hear Mr. Morgan, and thank you so much for your kind words. Because of your feedback, just this morning I have added a cup with more but smaller hornworms to our website so our customers have the option of specifying a smaller or larger size."

For those of you who need smaller horn worms........

Sorry... Tried deleting this post but it wouldn't let me this was not for rainbow mealworms so I tried to remove it. My experience was with Mulberry Farms
