I was just wondering how many of the members consider their chameleons "theirs " VS " ours" - there is no doubt in my family, these are MY chameleons - no one else wants anything to do with them - lol - my husband does not even know how many I have - or even what kind :p
I was just wondering how many do this as a "family" thing vs a solo thing
I do wish my family was more involved - the kids do like to show off the panthers to their friends, but that's about as involved as it gets

For us here at Canvas it is 100% an "ours". With the exception of our soon to have new Werneri from Carl. Amanda said that he "Rino" is going to be all hers lol.

It's shared in my household, but I'd say that they are 70% mine. My husband feeds for me on the days I'm working due to our work schedules, but he won't hold them, or spend extra time in the reptile room with them. He does know their name and species, though!

There is a definite "mine" and "yours" mindset with our reptiles. While we swap care duties all the time, you could say there's a bit of rivalry. My husband has his blue tongue skink which he shows off like a proud new daddy, then gets huffy when people say it looks like a snake and turn to oooh-ing and ahh-ing at my chameleon.

My husband tries, he really does. He creates everything you can think of to make caring for my chams easier. He even has a 3D printer and custom made some brackets I wanted. But the chams, not so much. He can't understand, why when he has everything controlled such that I can check temps, humidity, all the functions really, from my phone where ever I happen to be, why I still spend so much time on them. After all, it is all automatic except feeding and cleaning, so he does not understand why I need the extra time I spend with them.

Mine!

My chameleons belong to me. They are my babies. My husband likes to watch them, but that's it. My kids will care for them if we go away. I am going to be training the little girl in our neighborhood how to care for them.

Mine is strictly a solo thing.
My brother lives with me, he doesnt want anything to do with the chams,
could not care less. He never even looks at them.

So, I am their true one and only Daddy :D

Strictly my reptiles.

The only animal in the entire house that is a joint animal, is the dog. ;)

My husband doesn't care for the reptiles, he thinks they are 'ok' my big male veiled is kind of cool, but hes not into them at all, doesn't care for them at all (I mean taking care of)

he will if I need him to though.

They are definitely mine - when I go out of town I have to have the pet sitters come even if the husband is there. I have a cham room on the third floor that he never enters, the only question I ever get is "How many lizards do you have in there now?" He does say that chameleons are cheaper than shoes... :)

mine stopped asking the question of how many do you have, cuz he never liked the answer,

My husband tries not to know how many I have. He does see my charge card bill once in a while and ask if I own stock in Ghann's crickets. He swears it cost more to feed my chams than it does to feed us. I am always glad he only considers what I spend buying the crickets.:D:D

I would say defiantly mine, no one will really touch any of my reptiles except my chameleon, my brother always says, "I don't do reptiles" when I try to hand him one of my geckos but I take care of them and clean there poop, so, mine. :)

All the animals in the house are pretty much mine. :) My family (3 teens and husband) do like to look at the reptiles, but I pretty much take care of everything. The one exception is the quaker parrot in my younger son's room, he handles that one. Good thing, too, that bird wants to kill me! He's like a mini velociraptor with feathers!

I do allot of the care giving and sometimes my husband says they are mine but he really cares a great deal about them also. :)
