Johnstonii mating

This is my WC male and a CH female from actionjackson. The male hasn't been interested in her until today, although she has looked like she has a belly full of eggs for the last several months. Today, he started head bobbing immediately and she patiently waited for him.

Thanks. I really enjoy these guys. Having some trouble with edema in the female. Think it was from crickets, but is taking its time going away. She only gets dubia, silkworms and soldier flies now.

Laurie-lets hope it's not an explosion! I still have lots of baby quads and eggs in the incubator. I'll have a new bloodline hatching soon.:D

What's the difference between johnstonii and jacksonii? The male looks exactly like the male Jackson's my friend has. The female doesn't look like any jackson I've seen.

Awesome. Congrats, Tylene! Not a species you see breeding in captivity often. Hope its the first of many clutches from this pair!

There are a lot of differences between the two species. For one, T. johnstoni lays eggs, while T. jacksonii gives live birth. T. johnstoni are also larger and come from different areas.

If they produce a clutch absolutely good luck incubating the eggs.

Great species. This is one of the most colorful species of Trioceros out there and the males has three horns as well.
