Introducing Guinevere, the Meller's

Olimpia

Biologist & Ecologist
I didn't announce it because I was so upset about it all but for those of you who remember me introducing Gabriel the Meller's not too long ago, he passed away about a week after getting him. Presumably from organ failure that I couldn't do anything about. Thankfully a forum member put me in touch with another member and I drove to pick up this girl this past Sunday.

She is beautiful! About 5 years old and a known female. We didn't know what to name her but knew it was probably going to be a queen's name, but since we were nick-naming her Lady in the meantime it reminded us of Medieval women so we picked Guinevere, after King Arthur's queen.

Anywho, an introduction is never complete without photos so here are some from today (don't mind the gunk on her mouth, she had just eaten):

Thank you Lisa! One step at a time, but if she does well and we get more stable then I'll definitely look out for a male. Lancelot, perhaps? lol

Thank you! She is enormous, I just love this species.

She is beautiful. I just love meller's.

Thank you!

Me too! i think Mellers, in addition to Jackson and Montiums, put Trioceros on top as the coolest genus!

I agree, this genus contains lots of really different looking chameleons from one another, it's very interesting.

She looks fantastic,I had a male and a female many, many years ago and loved them. Both were wc and never adapted to human contact, allways went crazy when it was time to clean cages etc. I never had any luck breeding them,1 lasted about 1 year and the other lasted about 18 months. Seems to be much more info on them now then I could find back then. I hope you ars succesful with her and the male when you find him!!! I will make a point to watch for future posts on them. If anyone can help them to thrive it will be you! Best of luck :)

I am so happy you have her. After the starts and stops the two of us have had, it sure is time you have that beautiful girl. Hopefully you will be able to find a nice guy for her. I can't wait to see her new home once you get moved. You are just so talented at designing living spaces for your chams. Congrats again.

There does seem to be more information but it's still so hard to find individuals, so you end up having to buy WCs anyway and that's always hard. But I'm getting advice from really great people, so that definitely helps. Thank you! I haven't had any luck yet but I have high hopes for this girl.

I know Laurie, it hasn't been our year! I hope so, we adore her already, we'd love to have more. I don't know how I'm going to set her up yet as it might depend on what we end up renting but I'll figure something out! lol Thank you!

Mellers are so cool!!! I am glad you got her and I hope you have good luck with her and she lives many happy, healthy years with you.
