Hi!
I hope I can help with your questions.

First, we don't have records of the cooling burning out, especially not at any set time or interval. However, there are ways that you can avoid something like this from happening in any incubator- first, make sure that your ambient temperature in the room you are incubating in is as close as possible to the temperature you want your incubator to be. If you are using the cooling function, then make sure it is in a cool location and out of the sun. Anytime electronics are not in ideal circumstances, then they will have to work harder and will just not last as long.

Second, does the heater break down? In this unit, the cooling and the heating are run by the same device. There are precautions you can take to protect your heating element as well, such as ensuring that your humidity levels are correct and that your incubator is placed in an area where it has a pretty stable temperature. It is not ideal to use any incubator in a barn or shed where conditions can be rough. We have done our best to seal off any area where condensation can come in contact with electronics, and are always working to improve our units, but maintaining an extremely high humidity within the unit for any period of time is bound to take it's toll. We recommend always incubating reptile eggs in containers within the unit so that you can maintain a higher humidity within your individual containers. This is going to require less water, and will have higher accuracy anyway, since you will have less space to maintain.

Third- how accurate are the temps? Our thermostat is actually very accurate, and shows up to the second readouts. Of course, this does mean that it registers fluctuations as it maintains the temp inside the incubator. You would actually see this occur in any incubator, but most do not have thermostats that update as quickly as ours. Make sure you calibrate your thermometer and your thermostat before you begin incubating, and you should be good to go! Remember to base your temperature off of water testing, as water has a close thermal mass to your eggs, and that should show you what the egg temp is.

Hope this helps!
Thanks,
