I wanna let my veiled out

Hey all. I want to let my male veiled have a roam now and then around my room or house. He is about 9 months now maybe 10. I cba to figure it out atm lol. The main thing is. Hes in a 38gal flexarium still. I know it's so bad but I havent got enough atm for the aluminium enclosure which is £155. So I want to let him roam around etc. I feel so careless and cruel. He isn't actually that big only about 14 inches or something like that. What can he climb on what precautions should I take etc.

my guy has his spots so i dont tend to worry much. He just hangs out by the windows all day long. climbing back and forth from his tree and on the curtain rods. I just provided him with food he can get to, water, and a basking light (mvb bulb) Maybe you could watch and see how your guy is for a full sat or sunday and just let him wander all around. i know of some that will just stay in their spots and others that will wander everywhere.

Here are a few shots of my early free range setup. I keep him confined to ONLY 1 room though.

im finally free ranged!

How does he sleep thats so freaky. My cham is in my bedroom i'd be scared to sleep knowing hes able to roam, one day I might wake up late and he'll be in my face lol.

haha, looking at you saying "wake up and feed me!"

they usually have their "beds" i can always find my guy in 1 of 2 places whenever i get home. Hes really friendly so i dont mind him crawling all over my bed. He just wakes up, does his morning routine. bask/water/eat/poop. and just hangs out. If your not comfortable with him running around then maybe you should give it some more time. is he friendly with you?

aww, im sorry to hear that. you could just work with him day after day. they will usually warm up to you sooner or later. my panther would run away from me and gape for almost 3 months when i first got him.

some tips

-let him know you control his food and water.
-always try to reach under him not over.
-keep placing your hand in his cage and feel comfortable with working and cleaning his enclosure without trying to pet or touch him. He will see you are not a threat.
-try not to flinch when if he hisses or gapes.
-try to hand feed and water him.

how long have you had him for?

When they free roam how do you mist them? Do they go back to the cage when they know its time to be misted? Im am curious because we are setting up a room for our cham and beardy.

are you sure ALL veileds can be befriended? I'm trying everything with mine, but he only seems to get worse...i think the only time he's happy is when im not in the room

I personally believe that anything can get used to you but most will never actually enjoy it. So that's why, if my veiled is ment to be ''wild'' (in the crazy sense of the word lol) then that's how he shall be.
