I'm off to a poker/ keg party right now!

I just saw on the news that Fort Myers is the new projected path.
Good luck Mike at Fl Chams, I hope you house fairs well.
I'm in Central Florida near the Space Coast, so that puts me on the NE side of the storm.
Anyways, we should all be fine.

Anywho, I will say that a clever person would get out of the way of a massive storm (i.e. Katrina) but this hurricane seems more like a good rainshower for a state that been drying up for a few years.

that wasn't a very intelligent post....

first of all you don't even live in the affected area.

second of all you probably have absolutely no idea how quickly the storm could have stayed due north, hovering 10-15 miles over tropical warm water, turning into a class 3 hurricane and slamming everyone, no one is blowing it out of proportion, we just learned from 2005, grow up

I so have to agree with Dank here. Several years ago we were getting prepared for what we thought would be a category 1 or 2 here in Tampa and thinking we had several hours to go, the thing turned due East-strengthened into a cat 3-and smashed into a coast South of here of lesser prepared people resulting in mass damage and death. You don't take these things lightly.

Hey Jan-I live right down the road from Dank. It is actually sunny here. Not even a bit of rain yet. I work by the Tampa airport and it is nice and breezy and a bit cloudy. I am sure we will get rain shortly though.

Glad that everything's ok there. I think since it turned we are getting more of the wind and rain here. Jann

I am glad you guys on the east are OK. We are getting buckets of rain and some pretty good gusting winds. I guess I am more worried about all the tornado warnings. My chameleons don't like not being able to see sunshine out their windows - it is pretty dark outside.

You are all correct. We don't take warnings lightly - we are prepared. People lose roof shingles in this kind of wind and also screened porches. Do you all bring your chams in from outside?

I would bring them in if it was windy enough. Mine are actually pretty sheltered in the corner of the lanai next to the house.

I don't think anyone in Florida is FREAKING out. It never hurts to be responsible and prepared. The above photo i took from my phone yesterday as an outer band from TS Fay blew through. This was about a mile away from school, about 20 minutes after dismissal. Tornadoes are no joke.

Sure this is a "mild" storm, but they do spawn dozens of tornadoes, which are usually more damaging than the storm itself.

It hasn't rained here yet, yesterday or today.

I brought in all the plants and the boys from the porch last night, just to be precautious. Sometimes it gets so windy here during this season, even when a storm isn't called for, I have to bring them in and plants are all turned over....
