how to train a baby cham to cup feed? my little girl is about a month old veiled cham. thanks

tong feeding is hard. take your time and be prepared to be very still and slow with moving. cup feeding is IMO easier becuase they see about 15 crickets scrambling in the bottom of a cup they go nuts.

I get a push pin, push it through a clear cup, pin it to one of my panther's vines and he just sees them and rushes to the cup to begin feeding. Just like that! As long as there's food, they'll likely just go eat it. lol

I wouldn't bother cup feeding a baby so young. It might discourage eating, which you don't want to do at all! Babies that young should basically eat as much as they want. It is also unlikely that it will hand or tong feed, though it is possible. It would be quite counter productive to try and hand/tong feed that many insects though.

Exactly. What I did with my babies (around two months old at that time) when I wanted them to learn to cup feed: I placed the cup turned toward one side, so the feeders could escape with little effort. That way it draw cham's attention, but there were still some crickets in the cup and loose one for the babies who didn't get the cup idea just yet.

That might not be a good idea, especially with a baby. They need to learn first that they cannot shoot through the clear side of the cup and that might take a while, so no point in introducing a clear cup to a baby who needs to eat everyday.

I started cup feeding almost immediately with my veiled. He was only a few weeks old. I simply used a low container that was a bit opaque. After about two attempts through the side he got the idea to shoot from above. If it took much longer than that I would have stopped. I didn't want to risk his tongue getting bruised and have him stop eating. It is a good way to monitor their eating as well.
