How to feed roaches?

I am trying to get my chams that will only eat superworms into eating roaches. I currently have orange-spotted ones. Don't climb, don't fly, my kind of roaches. However, when i put them into the cages they just sit around getting a tan or something. Because they aren't moving, my chams ignore them. I know alot of people use roaches so what is your secret? Do you make a deal with the roaches? Bribe them? What?

Debby

You can try to let your chams go a day without feeding... then try offering the Roaches... that works sometimes... but did not work for me... Sounds rediculous but my guy wouldn't touch them until one crawled onto his leg and pissed him off ... when I plucked it off of him he chased down my hand to eat the roach... But it didn't stick... He still won't eat them... So I am going to stick to Gutloaded Supers and Silkies.

Try to mist the roach with water, then shake it in the calcium. That helps to keep the powder on the roach and hide it's identity haha. Once they get a taste for them, they love them

We have found, with out chams, that some of the chams are very particular about the size of the roach. We breed dubia roaches. When I had a cham that would not eat the roaches, I tried different sizes of roach. A cham that wouldn't eat a 1/2 roach will spring for a 1 inch roach. A cham that won't eat a 3/4 inch roach will lunge at a 1/3 inch roach. A shy cham with low self confidence will prefer a very small roach. Less intimidating. A macho-feeling cham wants a big roach with a lot of loud crunch. We feed them to Panther, Veiled, and Meller's chams.

If your roach colony is smaller, and doesn't have a lot of different sizes availabe, don't give up. Let it grow for a month or two. (keeping the roaches plenty warm and well-fed.)

Also, some of our chams are VERY particular about where the roach is placed. I have two guys who would only eat them if I placed them on the screen where the roach would run across the cham's line of sight. Another cham would want them in a cup, and would cringe if he saw one run across his screen. Another cham prefers to take his directly off the tongs. Try different appRoaches .

Oh, by the way Debby, what's a Beeger Box?
