How to Feed New Veiled Chameleon

I just got a new juvenile veiled chameleon and I wanted to know what the best feeding method is for theses guys. I've tried using tongs, but she seems scared of them and I can't just let the small crickets go free in the tank because she won't ever find them because of their size and the amount of stuff on the floor for the crickets to hide in.

Two schools of thought...

Free romaing and cup feeding.

Free romaing is more natural, it will allow the cham to hunt down the cricket, and the crickets are usually on the move. Are you sure your cham won't find them? Have you tried? You might be surprised.

Cup feeding is nice and easy, I personally think it's an eye sore in the cage, but I'm getting over it. Just remember that once a cham is roaming cricket trained, it can be hard to switch to cup feeding (or so I've experienced).

Tongs are for snakes. ;) These are really your only two options.

What would there be on the floor to hide in? Other than the plants. I'd remove anything other than that. Also, this is where silkworms come in handy. You just give them a branch to hang onto and they'll just sit there, waiting to be eaten. Also you can cupfeed phoenix worms/mealworms as another option. Also you called your cage a "tank", is that an aquarium?

if you have a small animal you'll need to make sure that they can locate their food
it helps to have a smaller cage for them as well.

hunting is for larger animals who's prey can't hide so easily.

remove the substrate from the floor (you don't need them at all).
In fact, your cham will be better of without them.

Releasing the crickets inside is best as it mimics the nature.
Chameleon in the wild does not have the luxury to be hand fed by human and yet they survive.
You should not underestimate your cham's ability to hunt.
You will be surprised on how agile your cham is.
