Housing a Veiled without an enclosure..

Hello! I'm new to the forum and new to chameleon ownership. I have heard people talk about housing a chameleon on a ficus tree in their house with a heat and UV source over it and no enclosure. What are your thoughts on this? Is anyone on here doing this?

Thanks!
